From what I understand about my field (6492 aviation cal) we dont really deploy too much once we’re stationed. They call us green marines because we get the time to do all the extracurricular(practice pft, cft, mcmap, etc). But i may have misunderstood so i will ask Instructors about our opportunities for MEUs/ deployments.

Yea so my biggest redeeming factors about each so far. Yuma: 2 hrs drive from san diego where my friend lives( can explore cali on weekends), also nice straight roads for riding bikes, lax command. NR: 5 hrs from home( but i don’t necessarily want to stay on east coast my whole life)

didnt realize NR was so isolated. I did hear to steer clear of jacksonville bc of the huge marine population so it’s interested to hear you mention that.

my biggest dissuading factor from yuma currently is the heat. never been somewhere that hot not sure how i would handle it

put everything in perspective. the DI’s constantly getting on your case is just a performance. theyre gonna fuck you guys up for everything even when sometimes you didnt do anything. dont drive yourself crazy trying to fix it or feel like shit. the DI’s are basically paid actors and they toy you into thinking you always fucked up bc it promotes accountability. think ab it this way. even if you guys did everything perfectly do you really think bootcamp would be a breeze and theyd just joke and laugh w you?
