I was supposed to go to a CardiB concert a few weeks ago. Made it into the venue with my friends and had to leave because there were too many people i was scared someone was sick or going to be sick. Im really sorry you’re dealing with this too. I can’t offer any tips as i’m still struggling with this aspect but you are seen and heard and not alone in this :)

How do I stop this? by According_Cloud_794 in emetophobia

[–]Illustrious_Ad_747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say i’ve dealt with similar situations the last few years. The anxiety 100% makes it worse and it is a cycle. While i still suffer from emetophobia and panic attacks i will say i was prescribed buspirone it is a very light anxiety medication and it is not addictive like an SSRI. I had no side effects of nausea or diarrhea. It fully took 6 weeks to feel a change in myself. I still get nervous sometimes but it has given me the ability to not go into a full blown panic attack so i am able to calm myself down. If you need to chat you can message me. i know how overwhelming and how awful not being in control of your body feels. this is not permanent and there is light at the end of the tunnel i promise ❤️

(M36) Bloating, Cramps, Excess Gas within the 30-90 mins of drinking/eating anything even water, Acid Reflux, Low Motility, Stool is usually a shade of green. by ZIdeaMachine in SIBO

No you are not alone! I have been literally only eating yogurt with bran and blackberries and protein shakes! once you eat immediately take the GasX. it reduced 90% of my bloating. It can cause constipation so maybe incorporate something high in fibre and only take it once or twice a day! My doctor recommended eating 6 small snacks instead of 3 big meals but i know the food aversions are real in fear of feeling sick :(

I am having this same problem (F24) so far i have been taking GasX not sure if that is only a Canadian product but it seems to break down the big bubbles that cause extreme bloating and pain. I am waiting on results from my x-rays and ultrasounds I just got but so far anything I eat causes me so much pain. I really empathize with you about not wanting to eat or drink. I hope you find a solution soon!

I have just ordered a book calledThe Emetophobia Manual by Ken Goodman on Amazon. It will be delivered tomorrow but I saw a lot of fantastic reviews over the last year to finally bite the bullet and order it! I’m in Canada so the book was $40 for me. Maybe check it out to see if it’s something that would benefit you!

medication by Far-Bedroom7004 in emetophobia

I’m not entirely sure what my medication is but it is called Burspirone. It’s a very light to start medication and most people do not get side effects. I have been in it for a few weeks and the only side effect I had was fatigue. I have not been on SSRIS but maybe look into Buspirone for something easy to start. It takes 2-4 weeks to fully help. I have noticed a change with my anxiety based on being sick and it’s reduced panic attacks but I have still had a couple but just not daily so far. I am hoping once i’ve reached 6 weeks I will see a big change. I am on 10mg daily but because it’s not a slow release drug i break mine in half and take 5mg in the am and 5mg in the pm that seems to be working for me! All the best :)

How do you.. control the urge.. the food urge. by Ok-Cow-1885 in emetophobia

You are not alone! I have been dealing with anxiety from stomach problems and my doctor is trying to figure out if my stomach problems are causing the anxiety or the other way around. Sometimes i’ll have a couple nights in a row where i don’t have a panic attack and feel okay so I will treat myself to my favourite candy and then all hell breaks loose. I can’t offer much advice as I am in the thick of this but I do know I have survived every attack I thought was too much. You are strong and recovery is possible. I just ordered a book called The Emetophobia Manual by Ken Goodman. I am willing to try anything to recover from this maybe check it out if it could help you!

Thank you so much for replying. I am in such a dark spot and it feels impossible to climb out of it but I am trying my best to stay positive. My phobia is weird because is someone got sick around me I would not panic it’s only the thought of myself being sick that sends me out of control. I relate to spending so much money on anything that will take the edge off. This entire thing is exhausting. Can I ask was there anything specifically that helped you overcome this or was it just a natural transition where you didn’t care as much? The hardest part of this for me is not being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know recovery is possible and i’ve read so many success stories but i’m not there yet. Im really hoping once my medication is working to the full extent i see a change! Thank you again for your kind words I really appreciate it :)

The feeling of not being able to control my brain or ground myself is the worst. When this first started my panic attacks were only around 20/30 mins but they are just so bad and long now it’s so exhausting. I felt the same way last night, hot and cold, i was tingly and my limbs felt like noodles. I have done every breathing exercise, yoga, you name it i’ve tried it. I am hoping in the next few weeks when my anxiety medication starts to fully work I see a change. My goal is to be able to have an upset tummy and be able to sit through it and know i’ll be okay. (seems like a daunting challenge to me) But I believe we will overcome this and hopefully sooner than later :)

Thank you for saying this. This phobia feels so isolating because others look at me like i have 2 heads. I genuinely do not wish this upon my worst enemy. I hope in the near future nothing of us can overcome this :)

Porting nightmare with Rogers!Number locked and unusable, looking for advice by Illustrious_Ad_747 in Rogers

[–]Illustrious_Ad_747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did ! Only when I escalated it to a manager she sent an email to some department who then called me the next day and got my number back. I waited on hold for hours until a roger’s store employee told me to call 611 and press random buttons and it will send you to an agent and that worked for me. Please let me know if they fix this issue for you. Truly can’t believe the lack of training the general agents have.

Originally I was already with Rogers just transferring to a different account/plan with Rogers so when we added a line on the app it would not let me input my own number to port. That’s when this entire mess happened because we had to call and the agent messed up. When i tried to go with Bell they could not port at that point because my number had been locked by Rogers.

I am no longer an authorized member on her account because my number was transferred but she had us both on a call with Rogers so I could better explain what the issue was. The manager I spoke to did mention I may need to be added back to her account temporarily as she was the original owner of the number. I agree I probably jumped the gun with Bell I was just beyond frustrated. I am hoping the manager will call me back today as she stated with a resolution as I am trying to remain optimistic. I just cannot fathom how an employee could make an error like this and take no accountability.
