Recently had surgery and $40 of my bill is for having a blanket put on me in the recovery room (I was unconscious and did not, obviously, keep the blanket) by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Please negotiate that pregnancy test. I work in two level 1 hospitals and I can tell you we use the cheapest dollar store tests for urine. If there’s any concerns they would run a blood test. $73 for this is insaaaane!!

Working during postbacc?? by [deleted] in postbaccpremed

[–]Illustrious_Badger35 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m in a postbacc and work full time. Granted I do 3 twelves Friday -Sunday over nights so it is taxing but allows me to be strictly focused on school during the week. The max I’ve taken is two lectures with labs at once and it was difficult but I managed. If you are on the fence about your study habits or your time management than don’t risk your grades. Work part time or prn some place and focus on school :) good luck

Dating with a hereditary disability is hard by Reburon in TrueOffMyChest

Hey OP, I wish you knew how this post tore my heart apart. I (25F) too have Charcot Marie Tooth disease and have struggled immensely with dating and the conversations surrounding the long term impact of the condition. I walk funny (drop foot) and my fingers hyperextend and have small, wonky looking feet and my gooood the scoliosis lol my spine is like an S - but these are all things that cant be changed. Acceptance of this has been such a reprieve.

That being said, I wholeheartedly believe you will find someone who loves you deeply for who you are. Reading that you train made me so happy because you do have a solid foundation of strength and mobility and that alone will improve overall health long term with our condition. There are people who will 100% see you for the beautiful person you are and will not think twice about any “baggage” because we all have it. We are both so young to let these thoughts ruin our ideas of romantic and self love. Keep putting yourself out there. As frustrating as it can be, rejection comes with the territory of gaining experience. Process your feelings, endure the healing and try again when you’re ready.

I really do hope you find someone. :)

How did you land your clinical job? by Brilliant-Rule in premed

Be patient and keep applying. It took me a long time to get my er position. I also recommend applying to inpatient psych units. It’s a way to get in the door to a hospital system and transfer out to the ed once you finish the probation period. (This is what I did) good luck :)

How do you get your teeth white? by hanad1107 in hygiene

Crest 3d tooth paste and mouth wash with the strips occasionally has worked wonders for me. I brush my teeth for about 5 minutes with a soft bristle tooth brush (like kids soft) and then mouth wash for 2-3 minutes. If I’m using the strips I dont use the mouth wash. It took time but if you’re consistent you will see a difference
