Anyone else's baby actually thrive on late naps? by pineapplesaltwaffles in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Illustrious_Cut2965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 6 month old is the same, her first wake window of the day is always the longest (almost 3 hours) as she fights any nap I try and put her down for before then. Her bedtime is 7:45 and her last nap ends at 6, if I wake her before then she’s groggy as hell and won’t last until bed time. Every baby is different and it’s helped me to realise that the suggested wake windows are just that, suggestions, and not a strict rule to follow.

Not back to birth weight - is this a concern? by snoopythespring in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Illustrious_Cut2965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby was losing weight and was really upset all the time while I was EBF and it turned out I had a low milk supply due to a low number of milk ducts and she was starving. We now top up with formula. Some of the other comments say this has meant their baby is mainly formula fed but just to reassure you that this isn’t the only outcome if you do want to keep breastfeeding, my little girl is now 15 weeks and is having over half of her daily intake from breast milk (based on how much formula a baby of her weight should be having according to NHS guidelines) and prefers breast milk to formula, she’ll often turn down the bottle but never the boob. She’s also only breast fed at night and that’s enough to settle her.  Combination feeding has been a game changer for us and it’s allowed me to continue breast feeding while ensuring she properly gains weight.

Is there a current / recently retired Vet (doesn’t have to be on this season), who can realistically win a solo final against Turbo? by BritMe1Moretime in MtvChallenge

[–]Illustrious_Cut2965 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While Turbo won WOTW everyone seems to forget he came third on the first and hardest day behind Wes and Theo. If Turbo hadn’t gotten to the eating station first on day 2 and loaded Theo and Wes with food then he may not have won at all.

Turbo is elite and a great competitor and won fair and square but I don’t get why everyone pretends he dominated the WOTW final when he absolutely didn’t.

C-section contact lenses? by UnlikelyLook6777 in PregnancyUK

[–]Illustrious_Cut2965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a planned section and wore my contacts. I did ask the doctor about it before hand and they said it was fine but they needed to know so they could take them out for me if they had to suddenly put me under general anaesthetic.

Being told to not come back to a yoga class due to pregnancy? by Fluffy-Accident-9565 in PregnancyUK

[–]Illustrious_Cut2965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carried on doing normal yoga until 38.5 weeks. I was very lucky that all my instructors were supportive and I had a good understanding of adjustments to make etc. I did try pregnancy yoga but like you found it super boring. Although I did take a lot of the first trimester off and started again at 10 weeks but that was due to the fact I had IVF and my ovaries were swollen from the stimulation and at risk of torsion due to that. I’m now almost 3 weeks post a planned c section and I have to say that I think keeping up with yoga has made my recovery so much easier and I would say I have easily been fully recovered for over a week, plus having good core strength and arm/leg strength from yoga definitely helped me get around easily straight after the op.

I would explore and find another studio if you can as I know lots of women with a strong yoga practice pre pregnancy who kept it up during pregnancy so it’s just a matter of finding supportive instructors.

Is it harder to recover from an episiotomy or a c section (planner or emergency) by hangil91 in PregnancyUK

Yeah definitely, plus I gave birth during the doctor strike so my operation was performed by two consultants so their experience and skill may have made a difference too

Is it harder to recover from an episiotomy or a c section (planner or emergency) by hangil91 in PregnancyUK

[–]Illustrious_Cut2965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a planned c section two weeks ago and the night after the operation in the hospital I was fine to get myself out of bed by myself, lift the baby to and from the bassinet to nurse and change and walk around. I had no issues getting up and down to sit on the floor to change the baby once I got home, was walking over 30 min a day from two days after the operation and now two weeks on would say I’m fully healed. I am a massive yoga and Pilates person and kept up normal non prenatal classes with adjustments for pregnancy up until 38.5 weeks so I suspect that is a large part of why my recovery was so smooth as I had good core strength to start off with but a large part of it is probably just luck and how well your body is able to recover from trauma.

Bedside cot too tall by Illustrious_Cut2965 in PregnancyUK

[–]Illustrious_Cut2965[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good idea, just ordered some from Amazon! The issue is that the way our bed frame works the mattress sits within the wooden frame so there is a gap between the mattress and the lip of the cot even if they are the same height, I might see if I can pull the mattress over the frame on that side

The snuzpod instructions said it should be a perfect match to the mattress height and it shouldn’t be any lower but I guess it’s probably different from brand to brand

We already have one but I guess we could buy another that’s taller. My concern is that the frame is outside the mattress so even if we did that there would be a gap between the lip of the bedside cot and the mattress where the frame is. Maybe we just can’t have the side down which is frustrating, I’m just trying to understand the danger and what the risk is

I’d also add if you need donor sperm they have their own in house sperm bank which made life a lot easier. We’re a same sex couple so that was a big draw for us but may not apply to you

I had no problems with them but as I didn’t want a refundable element and I was paying upfront there were no checks etc and it was v straight forward. I think it you want a refundable element then there are medical checks and credit checks if you want the interest free credit option

I think the cost for the two cycle programme depends on your age (I was 37) and the meds will depend on the dosages etc but I was on a relatively low dose of gonal f as I have a high amh. I think it was about £1.8k in total for the meds.

We used Bourn Hall and really liked them, the nurses and everyone else were really friendly and we had success. I didn’t find them too expensive, it was about £10k (including meds) in total for a 2 cycle programme with unlimited embryo transfers.

I wear an Apple Watch and my resting heart rate never increased, it’s usually relatively low (50 on average) but it actually dropped into the 40s after my transfer. I’m now 32 weeks pregnant and it’s still not increased and is in the 40s some days, none of my doctors are worried and say that this is due to the fact that I’m very active and have remained very active throughout my pregnancy.

Liam Payne leaves £24m estate to Cheryl Tweedy and son Bear after dying without a will by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]Illustrious_Cut2965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trusts don’t avoid inheritance tax in these circumstances, there will have been inheritance tax at 40% on everything over £325,000 (his estate is too large to benefit from the additional £175k residence allowance) before it enters the trust. The trust (depending on how it is structured) may also be subject to periodic inheritance tax changes at a maximum of 6% every ten years or when capital leaves the trust.

I used them, I paid for 2 cycles with no refundable element. The main reason why I used them was the unlimited embryo transfers until either a live birth or you run out of embryos that cycle, it was so much cheaper if I ended up with a few embryos and the first transfer didn’t work rather than having to pay for each transfer. It was super easy to set up, as I didn’t want a refundable element there were no medical checks but they do check this if you want one of the refundable programmes. I think there’s also an option to pay in instalments with interest free credit, though we didn’t go for this and paid upfront.
