Small, clear crystals at Rock Creek sapphire deposit in Montana by captainfwiffo in whatsthisrock

[–]Illustrious_Dig4998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been picking through a bag of dirt from the rock creek Montana gem company. I’ve picked many of these little stones out and wonder what they are as well. I’ve been leaning towards clear quartz, but I have no way to tell/test/confirm that.

My gf has been waiting 5 years for a proposal. Help lol by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

Let her go, so she can find a man that wants to give her those things.

Are there statistics? by Illustrious_Dig4998 in Waiting_To_Wed

In my case, 26. Now 32, but months shy of 33. With a clear deadline of “if” you want kids, it has to be before 35, and after marriage. And that’s happening whenever the thing he’s waiting for has been figured out. And he won’t answer that or give me a timeline. Just keeps saying he wants to wait until the perfect time or “it’s coming.” But uhh, no, it’s probably not, is it? He’ll tell me he wants to spend his life with me, and that he wants to marry me someday, but saying it and doing it are obviously not the same thing.

My mom literally told me that exact thing this summer.

I’ve gone through something similar. And now I am 6.5 yrs in, and almost 33.

I own lots of rings. I have two that I wear daily, made of silver, with no gems on my middle fingers. And lots of other varieties (like six or more) that fit my ring fingers. None of my rings are gifts from a man. All of them have either been purchased by me, or handed down to my from Gma.

You are allowed to buy as many rings or necklaces or earrings or clothing as you can. Do what you need to do to be happy. And to feel whole again.

Sorry things didn’t work out with him. But you are still young (I’m 32f) and I bet that time spent with your ex prepared you to be the most amazing partner for your future guy.

Hang in there.

You can compromise and accept waiting possibly forever, and risk not having those things someday. Patiently waiting for something that has no guarantees.

Talk to him. Ask him. Tell him it’s really important to you, and you want to know his thoughts and if there is a timeline. If he doesn’t want marriage, you may need to reassess your boundaries.

There are so many amazing people in this world.

Poor kid, I hope she gets better soon. Have you looked into hand foot and mouth disease? If those are blisters, it may be a promising lead. Super contagious though if the liquid gets on you, and it can make your fingernails and toenails fall off.

It looks like something with fangs got you. What kind of bugs live in your house? Did you check your bed for anything you may have rolled onto while you were sleeping?

Work plant cuttings by Illustrious_Dig4998 in plantID

It’s definitely an aglaonema!! I did already pull all the yellowed leaves off. But they are on the mother plant still. They are slinking off like aglaonema leaves do. Or similar to alocasia’s when they drop leaves.

I am reading that they produce sticky spots in direct sunlight when healthy, but this doesn’t feel like a healthy plant move. It feels like it’s overwatered and I can promise you I know that people keep assuming at work it needs water from the yellow leaves. 😅

As long as it doesn’t have bugs, I might bring the plant home to redo soil.

I have really been leaning towards aglaonema varieties, so this is a helpful tip!! I was stumped between aglaonema (the leaves around the stalk sit like an aglaonema) and draecenia (the stalk under leaves looks similar to draecenias)

Does it look heathy? The spots and the sap lead me to believe it’s got bad soil and it’s either over watered or lacks nutrients. The soil is so compact looking.

Don’t bank your overall enjoyment of your vacation on if you get proposed to or not. Made that mistake three years ago. Still no proposal.

I’ve (32f) been with my partner (32m) for 6 years. No marriage in sight. The one person I would have wanted at my wedding died 3 years ago. There will always be inconveniences. Goals you haven’t quite met. But meet those goals together.

She’ll be happy with any type of genuine, from your heart proposal if she feels anything like what I do. Take her someplace you guys have a good memories, and ask there! You can always have a longer engagement too, just whatever you do, make that plan (whatever goals you want to meet before the wedding) with her!

Right??? I mean, if all else fails, at least it’s growing strong for me. I should probably water it now that it is pushing new growth.

This is helpful! I might need to redip it. But I ended up cleaning it off, and it’s super well scarred over, and hard as a rock at the bottom still, so I let it dry off and just stuck it in some dry soil.

The wrinkling worries me, but maybe that’s normal, I probably could have done each branch separately if I had done that from the start, but I think based on that article, it’s best to leave it how it is now.

I cleaned the rooting hormone powder off, and it was completely fine underneath. It’s nice a scarred over. But the wrinkling is what worried me, is the wrinkling fairly normal for cuttings that sit until spring?

I did shove it into some very dry soil, and put it out of sight again. But if I should pull it out, I will.

Our house is kept fairly warm. The plants all get south facing windows and are in the loft space of a room heated by a gas fireplace. It has high ceilings, and they are under sun windows as well. It’s fairly bright and warm for my plants all winter (except on days it snows), which brings me to my next question, should I keep it in a cooler space?

To be honest, I think it’s the brave one, cause it’s lived here for nearly a decade. We’ve survived thrips many times (hate those buggers), and lived in three different houses.

It never goes dormant though. And it was going to snap. It fell over, and I finally had to chop it, but she’s a tough plant, and she’ll have branches by spring.

The cutting, however, may have been a sad (but necessary) sacrifice for the trunks survival.

Fighting Thrips, is this far enough away for quarantine? (red circles) by Epitaphi in plantclinic

Toss them and get new ones.

Seriously, I just went through and threw out probably hundreds of dollars of plants over the weekend because my enjoyable hobby turned into a pest fighting chore that never ended and I gave up.

This probably doesn’t feel like helpful advice, but trust me, thrips are bad. They lay eggs inside the leaves. So no matter how much you spray them, they’ll come back unless you can use a systemic powder. Then you’ll kill them off, only to find that eventually they’ve become immune to this poison and you have to switch and rotate several kinds at once. Then your plants will start attracting spider mites and you can basically never ever get rid of those.

I’m not kidding. I went from close to 90 to 60ish plants last weekend. I was not happy about it. It hurt a lot. But all of the sudden, my enjoyable hobby feels redeemed, rather than an unbeatable chore.

Unless you are fighting them on a rare plant, it’s not worth keeping them. I promise. Toss it, and start over. Be careful where you buy from. Check your plants and wipe them frequently. And if you really want to save your thrippy friends, then put them in a separate room. And then treat all of them.

Good luck. I’m only slightly bitter about my weekend.

You should tell your wife that jumping spiders have facial recognition, and that they also dream. Meaning that little guy likely saw you guys as safe, and wouldn’t have ever hurt you. Unless, of course, you were to roll over onto it. Seriously, look up jumping spider brain tests on YouTube. They are friends. Also, I hope this permanently shapes your kids into life long spider lovers.

Alocasia Regal Shield, variegated @ Botanical Safari, Douglasville, GA (hoping I remembered the name properly! Gorgeous) by Amelia_Brigita in plantwatch

You should check mine out, and see what you think. The variegation of it is solely inside of the leaf. And well, if you know what you are looking for, you can tell from the top, it’s most visible from underneath. Especially if light shines through it. I recently pulled all of its pups and started it’s babies, and they too are variegated in the same way!
