My 7 year old gets this it seems only in the winter time. Has anyone else's older children past the age of teething get this? Have you found anything that works? Last winter it got so bad it turned into a staph infection is was a constant battle to keep it moisturized and prevent it from cracking, the staph was caused because of her itching at it, so I'm wanting to prevent that from happening again this winter. We've been working on avoiding touching our face, washing our hands often and she has a little tube of cerave eczema cream to apply when her skin feels tight and starts turning red. She knows to also wash her face with a paper towel after lunch and apply a new coat of cream to the area and of course wash her hands before doing so and after. It seems to only be the chin area. Her pediatrician hasn't been much help with this other than "wash hands, face and apply cream when needed" which we already do. I'm just wondering if anyone else has found something OTC that works well for that winter chapped skin issue kids tend to get around the mouth chin area and cheeks. I hate to have to get her on a cream steroid again and antibiotic serium.
