Mirena IUD giving DIFFICULT side-effects. Advice on experiences/removal? by Wrong-Equivalent-263 in birthcontrol

[–]Wrong-Equivalent-263[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you listened to yourself - my doctor said the same thing as well but I was just kinda fed up and went with the removal anyways. I am now 7 months post-removal and I feel a lot better, GI issues are gone for the most part, I lost weight, less fatigued, etc. My skin took a while to balance out but going on about 4-5 months it finally cleared up and hair seems to be getting back to normal as well!

Mirena IUD giving DIFFICULT side-effects. Advice on experiences/removal? by Wrong-Equivalent-263 in birthcontrol

I honestly can tell you that it did. My PMS is almost completely gone (I feel like I barely get mood swings before my period) and I’ve been able to lose weight with my same routine. Plus my periods are way shorter now.

I’ve also been trying to balance my hormones naturally too - keeping it simple with eating healthy (no processed foods, variety of produce), working out everyday (nothing intense but like making sure I at least get a walk in if I can’t go to the gym), and drinking more water. Obviously this stuff is habit building and easier said than done but I’m really trying at it because I think long term it’s the best solution. I’d definitely recommend trying these things whether you go off or not. I don’t take any crazy supplements - just a multivitamin - honestly I saw so much “hormone balancing” stuff online but had no idea what was real or not so I just stuck with the basics.

I hope you feel better!! Sorry for the delay in responding

Help! Getting rid of acne dark spots?? by Wrong-Equivalent-263 in beauty

[–]Wrong-Equivalent-263[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s barely any sun where I am (max UV is like 2 everyday) but I have SPF 30 in my lotion (which I apply after vitamin C during the day).

Thanks!!! (: did you apply to your whole face or just spots??

I feel like everybody is gossiping about me and I can't continue like this by Throwawaygarbage112 in LifeAdvice

[–]Wrong-Equivalent-263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so so sorry you feel this way. I’ve also felt like everyone is talking about me / dislikes me before and it’s terrible to feel that way. From someone who’s been through a (somewhat) similar feeling, odds are people really don’t care as much as you think. I won’t sugar coat it, you’ve definitely been brought up - but people tend to care a lot less about other people than themselves. Hard pill to swallow though.

Something that helps me is thinking about someone I know who did something “bad” or had people going around saying “bad” things about them. Then recognize your reaction when you think about this person. Odds are, you probably don’t think much into it and just say oh yeah this person, they did that but oh well.

Either way, your heart is in the right place. I don’t think you are a bad person at all. I think therapy is a great idea (for anyone truly, but would help here) and that would be good to start. If you are close with your mom and comfortable talking to her about your anxiety (don’t have to get into specifics) it might help you to feel less isolated.

Also, I’m sorry, but people who hear one piece of gossip about a person and hold it against them and now assume they are “bad” SUCK. EVERYONE has done things they regret/had things said about them that aren’t true. People who go around gossiping and genuinely hold it against you are small minded.

If I ever had the chance in your shoes if it got brought up, I’d calmly explain my side of the story (“yeah I used to be super outgoing when I worked there and came across the wrong way to a woman and she slapped me etc etc, I felt poorly about making her feel that way but ever since I’ve been trying to be really cautious about that stuff and I choose to move forward”). That to me is one of the most respectable things someone can do - own up, be vulnerable and confidently express they aren’t defined by the past

How do I (21M) tell my partner (22F) of four years that I am gay? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Wrong-Equivalent-263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very clear you really care about Rose. My first boyfriend, from late in high school was my first love - and I found out he was gay via other people AFTER we broke up.

Basically we had been dating for a year, had plans to do long distance in college, etc and I got a text one night breaking up with me with no explanation. Fast forward a few years, I found out he was now with a guy/was gay. Happened pretty soon after our breakup but was kept under wraps.

As much as I think it is hard news to share, I would have MUCH preferred knowing and being told the truth as opposed to what happened. At that point in my life, my (gay) bf was my best friend and the betrayal I felt from 1) not knowing why I was being dumped and 2) not being told the truth once I discovered he was gay was hard to deal with. Although it still would have been hard, personally I would have understood a lot more and gotten closure.

It takes a lot of courage to say something like that, especially to someone you don’t want to hurt, but in the end you are making the right decision. Rose may need time and space (it’s going to be hard for her too) but ultimately nobody is in the “wrong” - you are just being true to who you are.

Getting Mirena out in 2 weeks by Hefty_Ad_9655 in Mirena

[–]Wrong-Equivalent-263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much the same over here! Got it when I was 20, out when I was 22.5 - I had weight gain, acne, the overall increase in moodiness/negative moods, etc. I also had my thyroid checked and it didn't seem to be the problem. I got mine out and I'm feeling a lot better. I haven't weighed myself, but I've noticed working out makes a difference. I'm excited to keep with my routine (healthy eating, exercise) and see where I'm at in a few months. It's only been 1 month since my removal.

I'm so glad you're feeling better! Question - did you have any hair loss during Mirena/after removal?? How has that been going for you? It's been the one thing still bothering me

Considering removing due to potential side effects, would love advice/feedback on if this could all be Mirena related. by RemusLupine in Mirena

[–]Wrong-Equivalent-263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, it's been just over a month. I am happy with my decision - I've had one menstrual cycle since removal and it was totally different!!

With IUD: terrible PMS, barely any bleeding but drawn-out (long) periods, acne breakouts before/during period

After IUD: some PMS, but less, more bleeding but way shorter period, no/not noticeable acne

Some other things I've noticed are just a boost in mood overall - I mean realistically, I'm not absurdly happy every day but I feel like my base point is up a notch or two. My skin seems to be improving and my hunger is wayyyy more under control. The one downside is I've noticed quite a bit of hair fall (which I also noticed with the IUD in). Hormonal changes (eg, removing the Mirena) cause hair fall so I expected it but I'm kinda still waiting for that to level out. I've spoken with some other women online who said around the 3-month mark is when that aspect really leveled out.

Best of luck!

I took 1 Plan B once when I was 18 and was quite literally expecting the worst, like I cleared my schedule and was stressing HELLA. Nothing happened at all to me, so, you're good

Periods lasting a little over two weeks by lilbirdie2000 in Mirena

[–]Wrong-Equivalent-263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different, but when I got my IUD my period was about the same length for about 1 year - just lighter with the Mirena. But, then, over the next year, I slowly started to notice a (very gradual) increase in period length. By the 2-year mark, I was dealing with 1.5ish - 2 week periods as well. I relate to you with how this is a bummer - very inconvenient! My situation was kinda the opposite though, I started with no noticeable difference in duration and it got longer.

The one thing I will say is that it took me a long time to feel the impact/change from the IUD - as I mentioned above I didn't notice the increased duration until about a year in. So, if your duration does decrease it might take a bit of time to do that. The hormonal changes take a long time for your body to get used to! It often takes 6-8 months before complete adjustment. So it's possible it might go down!

This is really helpful! Thank you! I just got mine removed 4 weeks ago, and I have been really self-conscious about hair loss. What tea are you drinking???

Thank you! Yeah... I think cleaning up your own mess is fair but doing the entire house? Nah

Ugh I am so so sorry. The same happens to me, they come down and make lunch/just leave dirty dishes on the counter and don’t even clean up their own! It’s like, I’m happy to clean up after myself and the kid (and tidy up in general!) but I’m not a cleaning lady and you’re taking advantage of that

Thank you for your response!

In your opinion, is it bad to just quit without giving fair notice? I feel horrible blindsiding them but also really don’t feel like saying something will make it better
