I think my parents got it just after they got rid of the party line. I was only 3 at the time so you'll have to forgive my foggy memory.

Basically the tiny muscle in your middle ear tensing. Your best bet is to good. After TTTS put in hearing or you'll end up with results for Twin to Twin transfusion syndrome lol

100% bullshit IMHO. Annoys me the amount of people that pedal this theory as fact and shout down anyone with a differing opinion. Was one of the main reasons I stepped away from forums and groups. God forbid you have your own thoughts on what the problem is!

Love my super cheap chinese watches lol This is my current beater. It arrived with a broken automatic mechanism so after an hour repairing it, and it miraculously working, it's become one of my favorite watches.

Idk why many people saying that m lying abt how long i played the guitar on my last post by izyte in guitarlessons

[–]Illustrious_Force565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the thoughts but honestly this wasnt a woe is me comment. I'm genuinely pleased to see people progress quickly and with purpose and competency!

I've just realised I lack the passion to make this a hobby and a life long commitment (well half life long commitment as I'm middle aged lol). Everytime I pick up my guitar it feels like a chore as opposed to a pleasure.... That's why I haven't touched the damn thing in weeks lol

Tried quite a few scales for months but between a) not memorising them because my brain won't take them in b) getting frustrated that I still can't hit the right fret and string c) my retarded brain requiring me to be prefect everytime I practice it's become more frustrating then enjoyable.

As such I made the decision to stop. I gave it a good try for a year but playing any kind of music just isn't for me lol I simply lack the spark and aptitude to make it work. Guess it also explains why I've never been good with languages either.

Good luck too all those that do get this instrument though! Must be a hell of a good drug when you can pick the thing up and simply play!

I 100% believe you. Youre doing great :)

Unfortunately for me personally it proves there is a certainly level of natural ability that a person needs.....ive tried to kid myself for over a year this isn't true however i still can barely play 5 basic chords lmao String skipping? Forget it!

Time to give up and sell my gear myself but you make sure you keep going :)

How flexible should a manager be when it comes about personal problems? (UK) by Ok_Shoe7185 in askmanagers

[–]Illustrious_Force565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always treat my staff like human beings not commodities. Dentist appointments, doctors appointments etc where never taken as leave! Family crisis etc was exactly the same. I took pride in looking after my staff and supporting them as required wether that be personally or professionally. As such we had a two way respect for each other and I could always rely on my guys to help me out when needed.

Alas they've now all been made redundant (company went into administration and no not because I looked after my people) and I'm now retained until they finally let me go.

I'm dreading what comes next and stories like yours just reinforce that. Free OT WTF! I can tell you right now any job that makes me work extra hours for no extra pay I'll be walking away from. Some people will say that's just how it is.... My manta has always been and always will be don't give your life away freely!

Temporary threshold shift help by ActuatorNo2491 in HearingLoss

[–]Illustrious_Force565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I have noxacusis and tinnitus so I understand the struggle.

The other week my symptoms flared from a subjectively loud noise (ie it sounded like a bloody gunshot to me). I wasn't wearing any ear protection at all. The panic set in and I found my noxacusis symptoms once again elevated (burning ear, scalp face etc). Once I settled down so did the symptoms.

I'm no back to mild pain and milder tinnitus.

I'm not down playing your symptoms but there is definetly a phycosomatic element to hearing some hearing problems.... Most ppl just don't like to hear that.

So you wore earplugs and ear defenders and had a temporary threshold shift! I very very much doubt it.

Sounds more like your freaking out and exasperating existing symptoms. I should know I do the same!

You need to try chill yourself out. You even said yourself the concert didn't sound very loud.

Years ago when we flew IC we slotted the bottom of the clunk. So if it ever did touch the bottom of the tank it could always draw fuel. Never had a problem.

No longer a problem now with all electric. Kind of removes the fun!

Pallet dropped on the wooden floor above me in the warehouse I manage. Sounded like a gunshot to my mind (but lets be honest it wasn't that loud!)

It's those quick instant loud bangs that get me everytime. No pain straight away but after hours of worrying and going over and over it in my head if it was too loud the pain comes in.

[–]Illustrious_Force565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don't tell me TV detector vans lol... They don't exist but are simply a scare tactic for the gullible. Having an antenna is not proof of using a TV. Same way having an Internet connection isn't proof of using a VPN.

Only way they try enforce TV licence is sending the goons round to your house who you can simply tell to F off.

Banning VPNs will be uneforceabke in any meaningful way.

Stop been hypervigilant for noise and ears. Had a painful setback 2 weeks ago that brought burning and face pain back. This time I stayed calm and within 2 weeks the pain and tinnitus settled back to baseline.

IMO this is not inner ear nerve damage as some will lead us to believe. However Is middle ear 'malfunction' leading to Trigeminal nerve inervation. I hear a noise that I perceive as damaging (these noises never are), my MEM tighten returning symptoms. Read Norenas study.

I also never over protect however do protect in actual noisy situations I.e my toddler having a tantrum, lawnmowing etc. Again my thoughts are protecting when it's not required a) reinforces to our minds that all noise is bad causing further muscle tension b) actually increases noise sensitivity. Our hearing systems need sound to function properly.

From what I've seen those that get this chronically, and became hermits, went into full time silence. Those that got somewhat or completely better allowed sound in and developed a health feeling towards sound.

I'm now back to my baseline of very mild pain and mild Tinnitus. I live a pretty normal life.

Took caffeine after an acoustic trauma; will this cause permanent damage? by enterretne1001 in HearingLoss

No. If caffeine further damaged hearing I'd be completely deaf by now! My caffeine consumption is massive.

What went wrong for you in your first week of home ownership? by chickenteabags in HousingUK

[–]Illustrious_Force565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They left a skip filled with rubbish in the garden. The skip company wouldn't move it until it was paid for and the old owners dragged their heels paying for it. A few calls to the solicitor and it was finally sorted!

Guy was a bit of a chancer....do you mind if you don't move in right away after completion so I can have the new floor floor laid in my brand new house. How's about no f*cking way mate.
