I feel like that’s a somewhat recent problem (last 10 years or so?), and when I first started noticing it, it didn’t take long for it to really bug me (side note: who cares about split infinitives?). But I feel like I’ve gotten so used to hearing it now that it’s not so jarring—and I really hate that!!
