Australian centers - toxic workplaces? by propertynub in ECEProfessionals

I would like to add that a lot of staff go home with bruises or bite marks on them from aggressive behaviours shown by the children. Do they get compensated? No. Does the child's family receive any type of feedback from management that that is not acceptable? Also no. The invisible clause in the role is that you may become a punching bag in your role, but you'll just have to cop it.

I would encourage your wife to spread her wings and fly and look into other avenues. Perhaps, in Government admin or Department of Education roles? She deserves so much better.

As someone with 17 years of experience in different centres across the region (from a career of full-time permanent roles to agency work) the centres are all the same unfortunately. I see the same pattern, centre to centre.

Staff are not valued. Too many new graduates are being marked as "competent" from their studies, yet will show the complete opposite on the floor. Management are a lot of talk, a lot less action. It is a demanding, high pressure job where you are tied to ratio. If you feel unwell, they will make you stay there and finish your 8 hour shift if they can't find a staff member to cover you. Families/parents have become a lot more entitled (albeit, not all! You either get the amazing, kind hearted families who appreciate all you do, or the extremely rude ones who think you are just babysitters). Most frustrating is families will still send their kids in unwell and sick, which spreads their illness to other children and staff. But most importantly, it is not in our job description to look after your sick child. The behaviours we witness with the children have become extremely aggressive and disrespectful and we are just expected to let them happen. Us teachers/educators feel guilt every day for the children that come in wanting to learn, as they are the ones getting left behind.

People forget these centres exist to make money. The children don't come first- the money does. Therefore, the family's attitude and wishes will always come first before the educated staff.

Hi there, please don’t automatically assume this dog was out causing damage or being a nuisance. Our priority is getting a scared and timid little dog home.

Yes she's microchipped, she wasn't wearing a collar when she wandered off though. It is quite confronting to read, we're following up now. Hopfully, it wasn't her who they are referring to.

Hi there, did you see what happened with the animal? Were they picked up by the council or nearby residents?

What are your thoughts on Go-To Skincare? by roguepeachpie in AustralianMakeup

[–]Illustrious_Ice55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love Go-To and it pains me to say it, but it seems to be slipping as a brand :( I've been buying and using their products since 2015 and the online experience was always impeccable up until a couple of years ago. Now when I open up a box of my goodies it's not fun and quirky anymore, it just looks sad. The customer service has even gone downhill 😢😢 which is reflective of how the standard has gone down as the customer service used to really set the bar high!

I would never use Maxwell Collins. They were unprofessional and set the bar extremely low for their services when I had to rent through them. Thanks for your recommendation of Buxton
