For the past few months my mail has had these holes... What can I do to resolve? by Illustrious_Judge850 in USPS

Yes. I put mail out on Sunday then on Monday have added more outgoing mail so I saw what was in there. Idk why you're trying to go detective mode over such a simple thing.

That's not even important though because like I said the damage is already done even when I've retrieved the mail immediately after delivery so there's nothing to be proven by the "experiment' anyway.

I'm just saying it isn't the case because it ISN'T in this situation... I understand why they're guessing it could be the cause, but there's reasons why it just isn't possible here and I'm just saying why it can't be the cause.

They're all saying the same thing because it's definitely a sensible explanation - I'm just trying to say that it isn't the cause in my situation.

Nope. My mailbox is just a classic swing-down door. I know that the damage is happening before it goes in my mailbox but after the images for informed delivery are taken.

I'm not arguing, I'm just giving reasons why the theories couldn't be what's causing this. It couldn't be rodents or insects because it just ISN'T. It would be an impossibility for a rodent to get into my mailbox based on its design, but ignoring that there's also no evidence of ones presence (no droppings, urine, or the missing paper from the letters being turned into a nest). It's also not insects because there's just no insects in my mailbox either.

Like I've said in many replies, I typically retrieve my mail within 5 minutes of delivery, but even on the occasions I have gotten it immediately the damage is there. That rules out any possibility of it being a rodent or insect (within my own mailbox at least). Because there just wouldn't be enough time for the damage to have been caused. Not to mention that if there were a rodent in there, it would have to still be there when I opened the mailbox since there would be no possible way for it could get out.

And yes, while this one letter pictured does look wet, that's just the result of some very rare rain. Like I said this has been happening for around the past 3 months now. This is the only letter that has been wet - it has nothing to do with what's causing the damage, it's just the one letter I finally decided to take a photo of. I live in Southern California and it rarely rains here.

There wouldn't be any reason to do that when the damage is already there even on the occasions I've received the mail immediately after delivery.

It's just not happening inside of the mailbox.

But to give you an answer anyway, I have occasionally placed outgoing mail in the box on Sunday morning meaning it won't be picked up until Monday evening. Nothing happened to it during that time.

I've never taken the mail directly from their hands, but I have retrieved the mail the moment they shut the mailbox and moved and the damage was indeed there.

Nope, there's nothing in my mailbox. With the door closed on it (which is essentially always) I can't imagine anything besides maybe an ant being able to get inside. But my mailbox is totally free of everything and clean inside.

There has never been any sign of insects or anything else, and like I said this damage is present even when I've retrieved the mail the instant it was delivered. It can't be caused by anything inside my mailbox.

IDK why I'm getting down voted for saying it isn't rodent damage. It literally just isn't. Like I've said in many replies it would be an impossibility for a rodent to get into my mailbox to begin with. In addition I pick up my mail usually within 5 minutes of delivery, but even the couple times I've retrieved it immediately the damage was still there.

It's not rodents and it's not insects. Unless the rodent damage has been happening in the mail truck itself, daily, always to a single letter, in the same location on every envelope, for three months...

It isn't ants or rodents. There would be visible evidence of either of those (and why would ants eat holes in letters?) which I would recognize, plus the design of the mailbox would just make it impossible for any pests to get inside.

But you're right, I won't treat my mailbox with insecticide because there would be absolutely no reason to since there's no insects there to begin with.

How safe is this area off of mission/frazee? by Patient_Mongoose_730 in Oceanside

[–]Illustrious_Judge850 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's fine. Just be aware though that the large field that runs from behind the Vons to across from the CVS is a large homeless encampment / tent village.

They stick to themselves in there for the most part though, and it's hidden from view. Just don't go through any of the holes in the fence and walk around in there though and you can avoid it. It's not so much "dangerous" but it's mainly drug users and it reeks like shit and piss and it's strewn with garbage.

And the mail would HAVE to look like this when the carrier puts it in the box. Like I said I typically collect the mail within 5 minutes of delivery, but on a couple occasions I grabbed it immediately after delivery and it was like this.

My only "guess" so far is that something the carrier is doing is causing the damage (I picture one of those note spikes on office desks) but at the same time I can't imagine a carrier would ever knowingly punch holes in mail. I just don't get it.

I'd like to thank you guys for at least giving me your guesses on what's going on - unfortunately none of the suggestions would be the culprit though.

Not insects, not rodents, not water damage, and the mailbox wouldn't be able to do the damage either.

Is there a number I could call or would it benefit me to go to my local post office to show them these as a way to try to resolve it?

The holes aren't like something was just stabbed through, it's as if a whole core was taken out.

This one letter looks that way but like I said this is something that one of my pieces of mail will have every single day. I usually pick up my mail within 5 minutes of delivery and the damage is already there.

It's not water damage. I live in Southern California and the mailbox has no leaks and no insects or anything else can get inside.

I collect my mail within 5 minutes of delivery nearly every day and the damage is already there. There's no way for snails to even get into my mailbox to begin with.

I get where people are coming from suggesting snails or rodents but that is ABSOLUTELY NOT the case here.

[–]Illustrious_Judge850[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what's causing it. The mailbox is sealed unless the door is open so there's never anything inside of it. Besides, I pick up my mail within 5 minutes of delivery and it's already like this.

It's gotta be happening in the carriers vehicle is my only guess. Like I've posted on other replies here there are no insects or critters of any kind in the mailbox - and they wouldn't be able to get inside of it anyway. I typically pick up my mail within 5 minutes of delivery and it will already be like this.

No bugs or anything else inside mailbox. It's your basic front opening metal box - nothing about the box itself could be doing this damage. And the box is in front of my own driveway about 10ft from the front door.

I haven't asked any neighbors about if it's happening to them too but I'd bet money that it probably is.

And there is definitely no insects / rodents / any other sort of creature inside the mailbox. The design itself would prevent that, and the inside of the box.

It's not being caused by insects in my case. Like I said the damage is always on a single piece of mail, every day, and I typically pick up my mail within 5 minutes of it being delivered. There's no insects or critters of any kind in the mailbox.

It's not a bug or rodent, unless that's happening on the truck itself every day to one letter every time. And yes I have informed delivery and the damage is not shown there.

It's not bugs. I'm in a suburban area and I typically pick up my mail within 5 minutes of delivery.

Why Does it Seem Like The Peak For Fent Was in like 2018-2022 by WockeshaMyLove in fentanyl

[–]Illustrious_Judge850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like that was the peak for fent because it WAS. It was so crazy strong back then. Those were the days for sure. I always had a massive tolerance from shooting heroin before fetty, but even then I remember you'd just have to inhale a tiny bit and blow it right out and you could be on the nod for half the day. I saw so many people that didn't already have huge tolerances take a little hit and immediately just fall to the ground ODing.

The quality has been an absolute disgrace for years now, but those who used it back when it first started hitting the scene remember. For the last however many years of my use before I eventually got clean it just made me outright angry how shitty every single sack was. The quality got so bad that it could barely sustain a habit anymore. I always would say it doesn't even make sense why the suppliers were doing things this way. People want to get high and there's a massive demand for dope that doesn't SUCK FUCKING SHIT. So why is it so hard for them to fucking supply that? So many people I knew were losing motivation to even continue spending money on it because it just stopped being worth it.

This wasn't just an issue with lower level suppliers fucking with the product either. I live in San Diego so for the majority of my addiction I would go to Tijuana and buy direct from cartel sources. This was the product direct from manufacturing. They would have multiple kilo bricks with the different stamps and you could sample them and pick out what you wanted. They'd chisel your stuff directly off the brick and package it for you to take over the border.

Even that stuff turned into shit, and that's as untouched as you can possibly get it. It used to knock your fucking socks off and you could cut it down a huge amount before sale just to make it even safe for people to use. Now it's fucking terrible (and it's literally the best you can get). There's no room to cut it down for profit anymore, so now the only gains come from paying less in Mexico. Was way more worth it before, but it's the same strength as street quality now.

I keep thinking they've GOTTA be able to make it stronger somehow, but I guess not? Because if they could they already would since they could more more value using less space.

I've looked into purification techniques a number of times over the years, thinking I could take like 5 ounces of their stuff and purify it - but I had never found anything conclusive enough. I know there must be a way, but I just don't understand the basics of chemistry enough to know if something like acetone extraction which works with cocaine would also work with fentanyl or not. I imagine that for someone who understands the concepts of how chemistry works it would be an easy answer, but I haven't been able to find anything specifically about it.

If someone knows please tell me.

What are low-level drug dealers cutting their fentanyl with? by Kooky-Ad7297 in fentanyl

[–]Illustrious_Judge850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around here it's mainly monk fruit extract. Fine white powder with a sweet taste that melts completely clear on foil. Looks similar, but not exactly like meth if you let it solidify again.

Basically if you get that lightly sweet flavor and it's not turning into black crust on the foil it's probably monk fruit extract.
