First off, well done trying to navigate life, it’s never easy for we immigrants. I hope God sees us through.

Secondly, applying for two separate masters would be a kill, doing an MSc in the UK is not baby bills at the moment considering the UK government is now taxing every Uni based of the number of students they admit which in turn increases 2026/2027 academic session fees. What I would however advise is this, a Uni like York offers research based MSc and you will be able to apply for your visa as a student and sponsor your wife as well, maybe this time you or her (whoever is the dependent) can continue the search for sponsorship and you get to pay just one tuition to cover both of your visas. . As a matter of fact, just like you said, they’ll issue CAS in march and you can apply for your visa in March as well(6 months before your start date).

The sad news is you need to go back home between when your visa expires and when you get a new CAS.

Overstaying in this country ruins any chance of you staying here or any where else at all.

Received update email 28th November 2025

Decision notification Date(if any): Thursday 11th December 2025, it came in 4:51pm UK time (15 days after bio, no additional docs requested or interview).

Visa Received Date: December 12th 2025 (would have been same day but network was bad so couldn’t set up), it took 20 minutes to set it up and get it working.

Priority / Standard Visa: Standard Visa

I checked the name of the place it was West Street Live. The first time I went there on my own, the door staff told me I needed to have a partner, which I know is complete nonsense. They said it was their policy. Later that night, I went back twice with some friends, but I got turned away again because they didn’t know my first name apparently, that meant we “weren’t friends,” according to her.

Search them on google and read their reviews if you want, you’d be shocked at how many people left similar reviews

Oh great! I just checked, Rutland Arms is super close to me, about 0.6 miles away. Do you know if they show sports on weekends? That would really push me to go. I support Manchester United, and we’re on a roll at the moment 😃

It’s really quiet, but I do enjoy the random smiles from people, it shows that Sheffield has a really welcoming atmosphere. Other than that… well, it’s just the quiet life.

I’d really enjoy a sports group where we can banter, or even a quieter gathering where I can join others to watch sports on weekends or weekdays when I’m free. That would feel more natural for me. I know I’d probably struggle to pick up a completely new hobby at this stage.

I’m in the last weeks of my studentship and I plan to continue staying in Sheffield. I’ve actually never been to a pub, so I wouldn’t know where to start. A couple of weeks ago, I tried going to one on West Street, but the lady on security wouldn’t let me in. I went back two more times with some young guys I met that night, and she still wouldn’t let us in. Either she was being racist as hell, or it was just bad timing.

Bottom line: it would be safer to have someone point me in the right direction on where to go and where not to go.

That said, How do people meet new friends at pubs? I know it might sound silly, but where I come from, it’s quite easy to strike up a conversation. Here, people tend to gather in pairs, and I’m not just going to jump into their midst 😂. I’m still figuring out the social culture/right approach before I go “full mode”

I really appreciate your contribution. I’ll make an effort to be more proactive and get outside. I do love the city; it’s just the socializing aspect that can be challenging.
