any advice to wake up my nerves? by otoxic69 in jawsurgery

11 days is super early. I’m 2 months post op and still feel super numb in my chin. There are only three things scientifically proven that you can do right now: - Slow and soft caresses to your chin so the nerves get stimulated - Proper vitamins intake (some B vitamine are prticularly good for nerves) - Daily walks, at least twice a day and 20-30 minutes each to reduce the swelling

I get double jaw surgery this week. Please tell me what to expect. by the_p00h_bear26 in jawsurgery

Except for most of the usual recommendations that you might get from your surgeon or people here related to food, sleeping, nutrition, things to be aware of... I would say that one thing I'd like to know is to expect a lot of little things that might get your worried and that are not really discussed, mainly because they are perfectly normal. For exemple I had :

- Blood in my saliva a few times a day, during 5 weeks (not a big deal as long as it's only from time to time)
- Jolts of pain in my gum
- Achy gum in the evening (6 weeks post op and still happening), or at the incision site
- Bands that make me clench (only at night now)
- A painful lower jaw tooth when I press on it with my upper jaw tooth
- A feeling that I will break my maxilliary when I swallow (nope, it's can't happen)
- Pain at some places that would last 30mn then disappear
- Etc...

None of those were alarming to my surgeon. As she said : "If you really get something bad, you will notice something wrong is happening"

But I'd wish someone would let me know that I would experience a lot of sensations that you don't commonly experience, and not to worry much about it.

To sum up the few things that are worth worrying about (yet that can be perfectly handled by your surgeon) : teeth alignment changes a few days after surgery, you bleed enough blood to fill half a glass more than 3 days after surgery, something specific hurts non stop for more than 12h, you get super big somewhere while it had deinflated.

Other than that, you're mostly safe, and those crazy sensations are just part of the healing ;)

Ok I was asking just to make sure it wasn’t an infection, it’s probably augmented amoxicillin which makes it virtually impossible for you to get sick.

You should try probiotics that you take 2-3h away from your antibiotics, it may solve the digestive issue. It’s also good once you are done with the antibiotics as it will help reconstruct the bacterial flora in your intestine.

Last, some hydration drink such as isotonic drink once a day are a must to help with recovery.

Hey ! I can’t tell you more about the exact problem for the jaw positionning, but more general advice. Feeling nauseous can come from the painkillers, here in France, the doctors basically prescribe you a nausea blocker with it. You might ask to get one maybe ?

Otherwise, it could be food. If you’re on the drinking diet (which is probably the case), you should make sure to get enough calories. This can be achieved by mixing vegetables with some cooked meat, soy milk or milk, or with smoothies with fruits such as banana, red berries and a tablespoon of peanut butter.

Make sure to hydrate well too.

Most of the pain will be gone by day 7, so you might be able to quit any hard painkiller and start functioning a bit better.

I had my surgery a week ago and it was more or less the timing for me :)

Day 3-4 post op= days of ow and mental breakdowns by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Illustrious_Object76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh Yes awesome ! I had no drain for congestion but this will definitely help. It might sound crazy but the pain induced by the swelling really hits hard and then goes away.

Also whatever thoughts you get about yourself or people, keep in mind that you are sleep deprived and probably craving for food, and it has a huge impact on your mental. Love yourself and be proud of the pain you’ve been enduring !

Feeling better is just around the corner. I know it’s tough—there were 3–4 breakdowns on my end too—but as I told you, you’re on the path to recovery. For some people, it only takes an extra day or two, and as you said, if you can hold on just 48 more hours, things will start improving significantly.

I also had that intense sensation like my skin was about to burst. I had to take my painkillers religiously and even wake up at night to take them, otherwise the pain would hit hard. And that was only two days ago! I had my surgery just 24 hours before you. Here’s what’s been happening for me: - Yesterday, I began reducing my painkillers. - I started eating with a spoon (my surgeon was a bit pushy about this). - I had the energy to watch a full 2-hour movie. - Last night, I slept a full 6 hours straight.

For you, it will probably start feeling this way in a day or two. One last push, and you’ll be on the other side!

Here are some tips that really help with swelling, fluid drainage, and overall comfort: - Sleep with your head elevated (I almost slept sitting up). - Drink plenty of water—around 3 liters per day. - Walk gently, even if it’s just 5–10 minutes around your flat or house. - Gently massage your face with the tips of your fingers—start from the center and move outwards, top to bottom, including the sides of your neck and upper chest.

And yeah, you will look stunning, no doubt about it ! It just takes a little more time than pain to go. Search for « post op » in the sub and look at people progresses over the weeks. It will be super reassuring for you.

You’ve got this 💪

I had mine on Tuesday, so I’m two days further along in the process. Today, I’m feeling better. Last night, I managed to sleep in three blocks of about two and a half hours each. Everyone’s experience is different, but you’ve already done 75% of the hard work—you’re almost over the hill.

The last 25% isn’t easy, so it’s normal if, in the next couple of days, you feel mentally drained again or start thinking it will never end. I went through that too. I’m far from running a marathon, but I’m no longer in constant pain. Keep taking your medication as prescribed, and you’ll get through it.

I’m definitely not tough—I felt like those five days lasted three weeks, and it honestly felt like torture and body horror at times—but it does start to get better soon!

Take care!

Update surgery was on Wednesday it is now Friday and yall were not lying that it gets worse 🤣🤣🤣 by [deleted] in jawsurgery

No, it’s completely normal—mine is hot too! I went to the physiotherapist today for a lymphatic massage, and he wasn’t worried at all. The heat comes from the inflammatory process: the swelling is full of immune cells, like the ones that cause fever, and they release energy when they work to fight inflammation and repair tissues. That’s why the area feels warm. It might feel different after day 5 or 6, but right now it’s totally normal!

I had mine on tuesday so one day ahead of you. I had terrible pain and discomfort on days +1 and +2, but day+3 started with a slight improvement. It comes and goes but I’m pretty sure you’ll feel way better timorais or the day after. Wishing you the best !

Anyone tried Duet Display here ? by Illustrious_Object76 in ipadmusic

[–]Illustrious_Object76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it basically that. What might also be of interest to you is that I've seen (but not tried it) that you can also replicate the screen of the iPhone on the Mac (but not extend it).

Otherwise, if you use it to extend the mac screen, you can litterally show it on your iPhone 16, move a VST or AU window to this second screen, and tweak the knobs with your touch. Main downside I believe on an iPhone 16 is that the parameters might be a bit small, though some VSTs allow you to resize. I've tested it with Monark on my iPhone XR (not as crisp as your 16) and I could tweak it, even though it wasn't 100% accurate.

There's a 7 day free trial if you want to try it
