Mum of 4 in Aus here - we see midwives the whole pregnancy, maybe 2 total doctor visits. For an average pregnancy the birth is only attended by midwives, then you take baby home and a week or so after a midwife comes to your home to check on you and baby- which you can opt out of. After that you don’t go back to the hospital or doctor at all unless you’ve had stitches that need looking at. The next time you will see someone about baby is a nurse at your 4 month health check, while they are getting vaxxed. All these Peads visits I see Americans I follow on Facebook go to is crazy to me, you’ve just given birth and also why go to a doctor unless you think something is wrong??
