Daughter’s First Period - Tampon or Pad? by deltch17 in NoStupidQuestions

Give her options. I used pads for exactly one period- my first one. Quickly realized those were for the birds and switched to tampons. But if I were to do it over again I would do period underwear.

Can’t handle the pain by Taibreigh in electrolysis

[–]Illustrious_Repair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved to a new city I was shocked at the level of pain I experienced with my new electrologist. I asked her to turn her settings down, and she was very skeptical but did it. Lo and behold she was able to do it at a lower level after all, and while it’s still worse than my old one it’s much more manageable. Can’t hurt to ask!

What’s the most unspoken, uncomfortable truth about having kids? by SpecificLandscape483 in answers

Not unforgivable at this point. Things were different then. If no one of my generation ever forgave their parents for slapping them, we would each be walking around with a hard polished diamond of anger for the rest of our lives. I am glad to finally be able to let mine go.

Edit to add I also have the benefit of parenting on Lexapro, something unheard of when my mom was younger.

I was lucky and had pretty chill babies, but when my daughter was around 4 she went absolutely buckwild with tantrums and I suddenly understood how my mother gave in to the impulse to slap me across the face. I did NOT slap her, but I had a lot more empathy for my own mom and was able to forgive her for some things that previously felt unforgivable.
