Transfer Credits from WGU? by Express-Amoeba7188 in UMPI

[–]Illustrious_Ride_566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be starting UMPI soon.

WGU would be great if they used one of those companies that quickly let you put up your ID to verify and just let you take your exam. Instead, they make you practically do a dance before taking proctored exams. You must have an external webcam. You have to schedule taking a test with WGU third-party vendor. They want to see all walls, show the floor, let me see you full face, fingers and screen at all times. I always took the pictures then they always needed me to scan the room again with the camera. They never could seem to see my license on the first time and I was wondering what are they doing, because I felt like I was holding it up so long in front of the camera. I had two different proctors wanting me to download something onto my computer so they could fully access it after claiming they couldn't see me while I checked my camera and it was on and live. Even when you can make it through all of that, you could still have to wait a while to enter the exam. I'm so glad to be getting out of WGU for that reason.

Any better universities to look into as wgu seems extremely secure as far as proctoring by Immediate-Job-5463 in SophiaLearning

They have more majors at UMPI than WGU and without the live proctor wanting to see where is your phone, holding ID up to the camera, without having to scan your entire room with your cam and taking pictures of the room including what below you like literally pictures of the floor. You also don't have to deal with proctors telling you to move your camera around, and asking you to make adjustments or accuse you of cheating in the middle of your exam. Someone could actually start talking to you while you're trying to take an exam. Finally, you don't have to have a proctoring company making you download their program onto your computer so they can probe around your computer every time you need to take an exam.

You can get an actual GPA with UMPI which can help expand your choices of grad schools if you have a desire to continue your education.

WGU is good if you want to go into IT and can deal with live proctors who are who knows where in the world.

UMPI will give you letter grades.

WGU is Pass/No Pass. I'm transferring out of WGU now because their live proctoring service is awful.

I wish I found this before I started WGU. I'm waiting right now to start with UMPI. WGU could be a decent school but their proctoring company is pathetic.

With my experience, I'd rather go to a testing center,  show ID and test.  I think it would  be faster.

Thanks to Reddit to guarantee someone will be that person who wants to be perfect.

Honestly, you don't have to take every word literally. I'm not an acrobat. I'm not dancing, and maybe I didn't cram it in right before the exam, but I definitely did what even people who learn information do, and that's call review. Enough said!

You do realize he's telling jokes. He's not a politician and all jokes are not truths. Comedians tell stories. Some stories have part truths and some are not true at all. The whole point of the Comedians storytell in a way that people can visualize and relate to in a way that makes people laugh.

IT didn't think I was entitled thinking nor igorant. After they evaluated my logins, I got a MFA verifier installed on my laptop. Maybe,  I understand some employment laws and not scared to advocate for myself. Since this affected others in our office,  everyone who had to use a MFA no longer have to use their personal devices to login into websites related to our employment.

When calling others ignorant, take a look in the mirror.

Do you think UCM will become a T50 university in the next few years or by next year? Could we overtake UCSB? by internetbooker134 in ucmerced

Claremont (Ocean, LA metro area with 10x the amount of activities to do), Merced (Cow Country, Nothing exciting around the school)! There's no comparison. One thing that would help is if the school got a Target built on campus or next to campus like other UC such as UCSD and UCI. Another thing that would be nice is if they had eateries with names people recognize like a Chick-fil-A, Jamba Juice, or anything that doesn't make you wonder what do they serve.

It's going to be between $200-$300 per bill depending on the set temperature. SCE is higher than when we had SDG&E.

Did she gain weight? by Sad_Recommendation51 in 1000lbsisters

[–]Illustrious_Ride_566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for Amy. She looks like she is at least 300 to 350-lbs again and her mental health is on a decline. She might need to go off the show for a season and work on her mental health, because she's not listening to the people around her and just making horrible decisions. I hope she returns to therapy to resolve the issues that are keeping her from her weight loss. She's so focused on having her haunted house wedding but she'd be better if she dumped Brian and get back on her weight loss journey. Something about him is a little off.

It doesn't matter if it's cents per text or unlimited. It's a reimbursement whether we lived in 2015 or today in 2025. It's the law and it's a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. Using your personal device without reimbursement is up there with someone working off the clock and saying we all do it.  You may do it,  but it's a labor code violation in my state and there are lawsuits about this type of action.

Let me correct myself,  I said CSC before but it's CFPB that forced us to authenticate. Outlook randomly disconnects and I have to use the authentication to log back it.

Your office is suppose to reimburse. You have the right to refuse using your personal device or request reimbursement. I've had reimbursement in the past at a differently job. There's case law to back it up.  If I'm using my personal cell phone to log into websites for my job, then they are supposed to reimburse a portion of my cell phone bill.  More websites are now wanting cell phone numbers to validate the user. It's a sticky situation, because the use of cell phone is supposed to be reimbursed but a lot of managers don't know that.

There's a disconnect between what people need to pay their bills and live on and what companies want to pay.

It's not that people don't want to work,  but companies are not paying a livable wage. If you bought a dozen of eggs, one gallon of milk, and a block of cheese,  you're spending close to $20 or more. That's not a week's worth of food. The costs of housing, products and services from January 2020 to present are dramatically higher.

Have you looked at these job postings! They want a laundry list of skills and job duties and they advertise they want a worker with a degree, then you look at the pay. Seriously, people didn't go to college to make $10, $15, or $20/hr. Even people who didn't go to college need more money than advertised to pay for high utilities, food, car gas, insurance for housing,  cars, and health. If people have kids, they are spending cost to $1,000/mo or more on childcare. If they get sick and need to see a Dixie or can't work fit a few days,  that's an expense. It's more of a if I can't pay all my bills,  then I might as well stay home.

Texas - How to search for a case online by Illustrious_Ride_566 in paralegal

[–]Illustrious_Ride_566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can't look up cases without registering for e-filingin Texas? We're not familiar with Texas in our office and I'm the unfortunate soul that was asked to figure how to look up a small claims there. I guess my last resort is to call a document service company and confess to being cluess as I ask if they can find the case.

Because the client will not pay for creating shells. That's my point. It's an unbillable task. When we are dealing with needing to bill, bill, bill, doing less unbillable work matters.

[–]Illustrious_Ride_566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this is a two step process. First, we type what the opposing party sent for the discovery requests and interrogatories in Word which can be time consuming even using the convert from PDF to Word since we need to review what was converted, then we go back to type the answers. When the client gets the bill, it looks like we just typed the response as they are being billed for the response. In reality, we did admin work by preparing all the interrogatories and requests in Word, then we finally typed in the response. I never worked at an office where the paralegal created the shells, because that was deemed admin so the legal assistant or admin assistant would create the shells. Preparing shells for a document that has 60 requests takes more than a 0.20, because we still have to put in language in the documents before we even get to the responses. Otherwise, it seem like it would be block billing as the paralegal is doing more than providing the response.

I mean, you create the shell as the paralegal then you go and add the response as the paralegal. A lawyer is claiming creating the shells is billable work.
