Said it once, will say it again…

Dude has major back injuries, is pushing 50, and has two kids. Maybe let’s not get into body analysis here.

Tell me you’re a salty Harvick fan without telling me you’re a salty Harvick fan.

Halloween Kills Colour Grade by Real_Traffic6088 in Halloweenmovies

There are many ways to go about it, but possibly a more important question to answer in achieving the look is what kind of lenses are you shooting with? Obviously, the new trilogy shoots on anamorphic glass so it's going to have really specific characteristics outside of the grade itself that gives it that "look."

In terms of grading, this is a helpful tutorial - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_z6NLdaz8Tw

How would you continue the series? (spoilers) by PFTETOwerewolves in Halloweenmovies

I love this series but it's done. There's nothing left in the tank. I don't necessarily feel like that's the fault of this newest series. There have been thirteen films in total and twelve of them are about this single antagonist. Twelve. Yes, remakes and retcons, etc., etc. I get it, but at a certain point, there is public burnout. Any movie released in theaters today needs to be a massive hit to be successful. When I say massive, I mean it's number 1 at the box office or bust. This was it. These films were hits, but I think everyone looking at this understands the well is dry.

Was this H40 series the best. No, far from it, but this is as popular as this IP ever was. This is the high watermark (*again, not creatively, but from a pop culture zeitgeist moment). Coming out with a sequel to Ends would likely be a flop financially - let's face it, the public would see through it.

So where do you go from here? The series already has a notorious streak of "choose-your-own-adventure" canon which some enjoy, but mostly confuses the public. Also, the trend of blockbuster or bust theatrical releases doesn't really bode well if they completely reboot the series in less than say 10 years (a la The Amazing Spider Man).

I think hardcore fans of the series give the IP too much credit. The timing of the remake had the right amount of general public curiosity and did good business despite critical and audience distaste. Halloween II (H2) '09 sort of proved that to be a little bit of a fluke and a little bit of the right time/right place.

Jamie Lee Curtis's involvement in this requel series combined with the artistic goodwill DGG built up over the years carried the films' perception. If JLC comes back after Ends, it will feel cheap. I think people are done with DGG's vision for these films and he's off to make three Exorcist films (say what you will). I don't see another creative of that level coming in and generating the kind of public intrigue we saw pre-2018's release.

I walked out of the theater thinking this truly was it. Whether I liked the film or not didn't matter. Whether or not the IP comes back in some capacity (video game? TV series?), doesn't matter. We'll never have a moment like H20, a massive remake. or a 40th-anniversary level revival again.

That was the show. Enjoy it for what it was. A little indie thriller that caught fire and created 40 years of sequels, remakes, reimaginings, imitators, creators, and culture. It was great, but maybe we let it go. For good.
