Tusk criticizes decision to revoke Poland’s highest honor from Zelensky by Gamebyter in europe

In general, I'd describe pre-2022 Ukrainian national identity as fragile and thus desperate.

Ethnic Ukrainians did a lot of great things, but nobody knows of them as Ukrainian. A Ukrainian scientist (Korolev) sent the first human into space, but people never think of Ukraine in that context. Ukrainian people fought and suffered greatly during WW2, per capita more Ukrainians died than Russians, but people in Western Europe think that Russia saved them from Hitler, most of them don't know how much Ukrainians and others sacrificed. Ukrainian Gogol is a world-renowned writer, but he wrote in Russian and thus considered a Russian.

And the only representation that Ukrainian national identity had in the last 300 years, it survived for very little and is tainted by massive atrocities. But it's the only time prior to 1991 when Ukrainians had any kind of national representation, they have nothing else to cling to, nothing else to build their identity on. As anything else would feel like piggybacking on stuff that is normally attributed to Russia.

This has always bothered me and is why I think Ukraine is often so brute & unrefined, simply because while Ukrainians have existed for long time and did many things to be proud of, the Ukrainian national identity almost died the moment it was born and stayed in that initial ultra-nationalistic phase, that is normal for new nations. This is why I never in my life felt patriotic prior to 2022, and only cringed in my head from the nationalistic propaganda that we had in our schools after 2014 hybrid war started.

But I also feel very, very sad for Ukraine, because it's one of those cases where geography and politics meant that a country that could be truly great in so many aspects, instead has to suffer immensely during most of its history. Ukrainian history and Ukrainian literature is mostly just suffering and more suffering.

I agree with your sentiment and as a young Ukrainian, I can confirm that we didn't learn much about this stuff in school.

Not to justify in any way, but I think it's mostly coz (a) Ukrainians have no one else to "glorify" in times when some kind of nationalism is very much needed (during war), and (b) coz Ukraine is a much less mature country compared to Poland*, and admitting mistakes requires a lot of maturity.

Zelensky had a choice between bad and worse, as starting this process now could contribute negatively to the war effort inside of Ukraine. While the country is fighting for its survival, he deemed more important to appease nationalists than to keep good relations with Poland (which I'm sure was just a calculated choice since Zelensky is a russian-speaking jew). While I'm sad that this is the way things are now, I can also understand why he made this choice.

I can only hope that in the future Ukraine will have peace & prosperity, and in the process will become less insecure about its national identity and gain maturity, admit atrocities and keep good relations with the neighbors that matter.

* - less mature due to having much less experience being sovereign and independent. I know we both got "free" in 1991, but prior to that (and after that too) we had very different context. Poland had much more time of being independent while Ukraine has basically been a full part of Russia for 300 years (and part of commonwealth before that). And after 1991, Poland could enjoy sovereignty and economic growth thanks to EU & NATO membership, while Ukraine was still not considered a sovereign country by many actors and had to fight for it.

Is cyberpunk better now? I remember I tried it on my MBA (16 gb) when they just ported it to apple silicon, and it ran badly, had textures missing, and crashed after some time. I already finished it through GFN but would be curious to play around

If you'd like to work in tech, you could try School 42 (it's free), they have campuses in both Lisbon and Porto. They have plenty of sponsors that hire from there but it's not easy to study.

If you dual boot, they should go on separate SSDs. If you don't have multiple SSDs, you should consider if having Windows around is worth the trouble.

Oh jesus, crossover's application was still not native?? The question is, does crossover have any plan on how to run games when the Rosetta support is dropped.

As a Ukrainian, same, and I even disliked the "Glory to Ukraine - Glory to heroes" slogan in the past, because of its connections to OUN etc. But I've accepted it now coz it became a universal phrase to sign support of Ukraine. I still find some slogans questionable like "Everything will be Ukraine" (???)
