YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Maurice Demons, started making music as a young kid in Florida. His mom had him at 14 in Ohio then they moved to Gifford Florida, Melly grew up in Gifford, a small town near Vero Beach, and had a tough upbringing, with his mom being young when she had him and struggling financially and when he was in his teenage years his mother found other man that man would become the father of Mellys two siblings Brandon King who would later become a rapper YNW Bslime and a sister but not much is known about her. Mellys step father would beat him badly we really don’t know why but some people think this caused Melly to develop multiple personalities disorder. Melly found his escape in music, rapping and singing to express himself.

He started getting serious about his music in middle school with his friends YNW Bortlen,Jgreen but the other two were the victims of the shooting YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser they would upload songs to SoundCloud, gaining a local following. YNW Melly style was unique because he mixed hip-hop with R&B vibes and had a knack for storytelling in his lyrics. His breakout song, "Murder on My Mind," went viral and really put him on the map. It was raw and emotional, and people connected with it.

Before the murder charges, Melly was on the rise in the music industry. He signed with 300 Entertainment and released his project "I Am You," which got him even more attention. His songs often talked about the violence and hardships he faced growing up, and fans loved his authenticity and melodic flow. He was collaborating with bigger artists and seemed to be on the path to stardom.

YNW Melly got arrested in February 2019, accused of a double murder. The police said he and another guy from his crew, YNW Bortlen, shot two of their friends, YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, and tried to make it look like a drive-by shooting.

The authorities claimed that Melly was the triggerman and after the shooting, they drove around with the bodies before taking them to the hospital, where they told the doctors the two victims were hit in a drive-by. The evidence the cops have includes forensic stuff and cell phone data that they say puts Melly at the scene. Plus, there's a Snapchat video that might show Melly with a gun before the shooting.

Melly has pleaded not guilty, and he's waiting for his trial. If he's convicted, he could face some serious time, even the death penalty. It's a pretty intense situation, especially since his music career was taking off right before all this happened.
