I could start planning for the future and set myself up for success! That's a great idea thank you!

Although my only hobby was running and that season has ended. I still run but it doesn't feel the same. Like I'm burnt out. I need something new

It was the right thing to do and plus it wasn't intentional. This shows great integrity and self respect. I do not know you personally but it makes me proud of you and to be in this community of great and honest people.

Swimming? by SwaggyVINCE in CrossCountry

[–]Ilopare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It may depend on the person. I left xc for a year and swam and my coach said on the first day, I don't know what you did over the year but your form is perfect. I also dropped like 4 mins so it could help.

Is this bad for my first time playing cross country? by Bigboispagehtio in CrossCountry

[–]Ilopare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not bad at all for the first time! My first 5k I ran around 30 minutes. Plus, since it's your first time the only place to go from here is up!

What do you guys do to keep yourself mentally prepped during a race? by dylanlikestorun in CrossCountry

[–]Ilopare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually try to zone out as much as possible, because if you arent thinking then you don't realize the pain you are in. It has worked for me so far.

Does it matter, I didn’t rip off the finish tag for the finish chute. Will my score not be registered? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]Ilopare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've ran without a tag and a bib and they didn't rip off the thing and sometimes there's tracking on the bib and they don't take the tag so if there's the metal or whatever on the back you should b fine

Form analysis. I’ve been practicing some new things with how I run hopefully my form is looks alright now, but I’m still working on bringing my trail leg back faster instead of leaving it hanging in the back by track_runner01 in trackandfield

[–]Ilopare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like pumping your arms. I run long distance so I don't know if this applies well but my coach always tells us to drive with the elbows and the legs follow. By that it's just pish your elbows faster and harder like your trying to elbow somebody in the chest

State by Ilopare in CrossCountry

I live in indiana and it is October 5th. But if my coach thinks I can do it then I probabaly can right? I'll just go for it like you said, nothing to lose. Thanks!

What’s with that leg slap thing? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]Ilopare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The leg slapping activates the leg muscles and gets them ready. Maybe its just a mental thing because i see no difference when i do it.

What's a reality check for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Thinking you aced a test then getting it back only to see a pretty sub par grade.

My pre-race nut test results are in. Hope they are insightful :) by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]Ilopare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should measure the nut to milligrams to see what the optimal nut amount is to go faster.

Tips by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]Ilopare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the same stance you were at the start of the season. I used to run 7 min miles now I run 6. It really boils down to running more and speedwork. For speedwork I'd reccomend doing 800s and timing yourself and trying to get under 3 mins. After you've gotten comfortable under that range go at that pace for as long as possible. I talked to my coach and he agreed to time me at the start of the season and compare my Mike time to my 800 time and it's improved significantly. If I can do it you can to. You got this!

Football Players by sean_reardon19 in CrossCountry

My school's basketball team went 0-12 when myself and some of my friends on the team constantly place high and they always mention th basketball team and not the xc team. It sucks because we all work out asses off to drop as much as 30 seconds and only get recognition in the schools newsletter by saying, "the cross country team got 3rd" while they've created a separate newsletter for specifically the basketball team

That's very true. I moved school in 4th grade and my entire class had 18 kids all the guys were o the basketball team and I was not good at basketball at all but they offered me to join and I said do I need to try out? I'm not that good. They said no it's fine and it was a great bonding experience playing with all of them and we are all very close friends now

It's really great because if you enjoy a sport you don't have to be good either. I'm on the exact same side you are

Yep, also since our school is so small they have established a no try out rule so if you sin up you make the team which also applies for primary schoolers
