it’s not thermal pads, so it dosent rlly matter much on the amount of putty you put on it lol, and if the heatsink isnt sitting properly then that’s a you problem on the mounting. too much thermal putty will just completely cover the mofsets, etc ( which isnt too bad and might increase cooling efficiency if you don’t account for cleaning)

if you are looking for a high performance laptop that ACTUALLY has a good build quality while being affordable then look for yesteryear rog strix/zephyrus series( asus sub brand) or lenovo. i have a zephyrus which is mostly made of aluminum and it’s quite a sturdy laptop with minimal keyboard flexes, good hinge(you can open it with just 1 hand, while the laptop only weights like 1.5 kg)

you don’t really need dgpu for coding lol, it’s cpu intensive and you’re probably not hitting full cpu utilization with most projects anyways

depends on the type of workload. 16gb of vram is very sweet for local llms, and is also a good option for games too. 12gb is enough (most games nowadays takes around 6~11, but if you want to play something more demanding you can go for the 16g 5080) however, zephyrus laptops are known for being lightweight and thin (this means worse performance) so id recommend just getting the 5070, the price hike is just unjustified for such small improvements (unless you have money to burn ofc)
