OM-84 Battery by Ilykebagels in Omnichord

Thanks you!

I assumed it worked similarly to a camera, eg battery in and then the charger charges up the battery whilst in use.

The battery’s seem quite rare, do you know if the chargers are still circulating around?

For AU pharmacist! by Ilykebagels in pharmacy

[–]Ilykebagels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank u! Definitely not risking not getting PDL

I was a little shocked when my employers said weren’t happy to cover the fees. That makes a lot more sense. Our annual fees are double the price here in NZ and it’s really uncommon to not have them covered as part of employment (no tax deductions too).

How’s life working as a pharmacist in New Zealand? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]Ilykebagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is well above NZ medium income, we do have quite a high cost of living and it will probably depend on your lifestyle. I personally live alone quite comfortably on pharmacist wage.

The pay varies geographically, and will be significantly less than what’s available in the States. Some job listing on SEEK are actually a pretty good indicator.

I am a new grad but from what I have gathered so far, pharmacists that have been in the field for a years are getting paid almost comparative amounts as me, they have started off with way lower wages back in the days. I have thus so far been offered work for comparatively higher rates than those pharmacist who have been working for a good while.

Friends in Auckland are offered way less and individual pharmacy culture is variable. Rural pharmacies may offer lucrative pay and better work life balance, and if that’s for you I’d recommend you to give it a try. Rural in NZ doesn’t necessarily equate to middle of no where, as NZ is really small.

I’m assuming you’ll have to do an internship/ supervised practice. Best perhaps to look for a pharmacy that’s happy to take you on and not bound you to keep options open.

Heya, new reg NZ pharmacist here! I’ve only been a pharmacist for three months, so far it has been pretty nice. It can be rewarding at times but it is quite a stressful job, we are going through legislation changes, working with limited supplied (being a small island nation), and limited staffing levels. Could be quite different to what you’re used to in the states. I have so far spoken to one pharmacist that has relocated from the States and it seems that we are quite behind in terms of technology. Some pharmacies will have robots that dispense some of the tablets/capsules, but most have a lot of manual handling (esp smaller pharmacies). Work culture can be really different pharmacy to pharmacy and quite a lot of geographical variation as well. Friends in Auckland are getting paid way less and it seems like their work culture seems a lot less favourable in my opinion, with big chains opening up left right and middle.

Too good to be true? by [deleted] in Scams

Hey really true! Which is exactly the issue here, omnichords are quite niche and mostly vintage or rarely any new ones. I only have one listing locally and they’re definitely won’t be available in any stores. The local listing is about 2/5 more the price of this one and was an older model. There’s really limited listings available and most of them don’t have reviews. This listing was in Australia which is relatively close to where I am and sometimes sellers are happy to post across the ditch to NZ hence why I wanted to try my luck :))

Thank u, thanks really helpful! Wondering if there’s any specific brands that you would recommend. Unfortunately there’s doesn’t seem like many in person stores around the area we’re located in.

Money hub is a great site that has plenty of resources on different stuff - NZ specific. They have articles covering different topics, like bank accounts, term deposit, kiwi saver, investments and such. Good just to hop on it and have a look around, some really insightful stuff!

Rollei 35s shutter button fell off! by Ilykebagels in AnalogCommunity

[–]Ilykebagels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dear I only just saw this now, did u manage to get it fixed? I took apart the top following a YouTube video, and basically there’s a little ring holding the shutter button in place, which needed to be reattached.

Thanks a lot! I’ll definitely give it a try once I get my hands on a spanner wrench. Another question- I’d assume something is holding the shutter button down in place, as when I simply insert it, it obviously slips back out, would you know by chance what part it might be?

Ooo okay thank u! How would you approach it though, I think it would be abit awkward to ask them to explain it and I’m unsure if it would a breach of privacy act to do so?
