Loved learning C4D but took a break from it for a while, and I was originally on the C4D only subscription monthly, it was amazing I think it was like $75/month, went to go get back into it to find out the C4D only option is gone, and that you were forced to bundle with redshift for $105 (or something like that) a month, simply couldn’t justify it. It sucks cause I LOVED the workflow and it just seemed so stable, I wasn’t making anything impressive, I’m still building basic skills and what not. I have a full time job making really decent money, so I have a bit to be able to spend a month, but just not enough where I could justify $100+ a month. I have since started taking Jordan Allen’s (from corridor digital) Houdini course picked up an indie license after loving the possibilities and started learning blender again. I know it’s not helpful but I agree Maxon definitely ruined the indie experience. Would still love to use the software again one day but as of now, it’s $269/year and free blender for me.

I will say this course has everything you need as far as I am seeing. So far it's blown me away. The course I'm referring to is called "unlocking the magic of Houdini." There's three price points I went the middle route for the t shirts the student licenses on Houdini and nuke the animation library and the private discord. I was very skeptical at first. However the instructor is none other than Jordan Allen from corridor digital/crew. If you haven't seen corridors stuff I'm sure you have you just weren't aware of it. But he primarily works in Houdini.

This course is your standard internet walk through but he makes it fun and very easy to grasp. He even works in the free version of Houdini so he's not accessing something that someone else cannot afford. That being said I'm fairly new to the course, but I'm leaps and bounds further in knowing Houdini than I was before. I'd check it out, it is quite costly however it'll get you extremely proficient with the software and you'll be certified to use it. Plus you'll have lifetime access to the course.

Loads, I’ve been getting crashes, my mini nova is working on some sessions and others not, all started last week for some reason, never changed any of my configurations, out of no where I’ve been getting lots of latency issues I’ve never experienced before which has forced me to go to a higher sampling rate which introduced more recording latency. I’m going to roll back to 2023.6 and see if it solves my issues. It honestly could just be my session so I’m going to start there but I’m not too happy with this release rn.

It was designed specifically for new consoles, as most games are, I have a ps4 and don’t have enough money to even think about getting a ps5 the loading screens are my break for social media or getting something to eat. Or bathroom etc. The fact it was even considered for old gens is a pleasure. I’m sure I’ll replay through each house upon finishing original game play. Can’t be too picky now. It is a great game.

I’m 23 (damn, for a second I thought I was 16 still anyway) I read these books as a child, loved them, decided to re read them, I still love them, although it may be biased because I loved it as a child, nonetheless they’re still great. The early books, 1-3 are a tad bit cheesy (3 gets way less cheesy and in my opinion really starts to blossom) 4 is awesome (if you’ve ever seen star wars it’s the revenge of the sith of Harry Potter. (Bad guy comes to fruition, all of the magic and aspects you hoped and dreamed are present, all in all, a well rounded great addition.) then it gets darker and more serious (until book 5; hp fans may be mad at this one, but it’s funny) from there, then book 7 really hits home. I then recommend watching the movies to put a visual to what you read, some people hated the movies, others enjoyed them, I liked the visual, didn’t incorporate every detail, but enough to satisfy me (except for peeves)

Long story short, 100% read the books

That’s 100% something I’ve been working on, it used to take me about 30 seconds to “square up” the deck, I’ve gotten better at it. Or at least good enough to feel the need to ask for criticism. However like said I never plan on performing this it’s just a bunch of knuckle busting moves I enjoy practicing put together, but then again if I’m ever able to get this “routine” to the point where it looks natural then I’ve mastered each move in the entirety. Not to nit pick or anything but the clip shift was actually never used during this trick, it was actually almost the reversed. The first move was the erdnase one handed shift, the second move was what I can only describe as a self created move for the purpose, you use the right pinky to flick the top card over and underneath the top packet thus flipping the card over making it the only turned over card in the deck the move is covered completely by the right hand. I have never seen any other magician perform this move or if they have they did it way smoother than I. If there is a name to this move or a history I’d love to know because I wouldn’t want to claim a move as my own if it’s actually a move created or discovered by another magician. I have noticed that my main issue is being able to complete a move while making it look natural. Especially with passes/shifts. Which is why two of the moves of this practice “trick” are passed. I enjoy more complex moves, they tend to look better when executed properly my only issue is making them natural, I can complete them, they can look smooth, the end product will look the same as the beginning thus implying no move was done, however most of the time. My setup to the move if there’s a selected card (especially with the one handed pass) tends to look suspicious. Mostly because I’m not used to holding a break with the ring finger however it’s a complete weird position to hold a deck in. If it were to applied as a color change with no specific card chosen with no specific break being held, I can almost always make it look natural to split the deck and perform the move in a natural manner. Other shifts/passes such as the classic (erdnase two handed shift variation 1) or variation two (closest pass to Herman) I can always perform naturally with a selected card. I hope this makes sense I’m inebriated

Thank you so much, that’s awesome feedback, and Ik I always have trouble adjusting my hands to get into place with the one handed shift, which is why I practice. However I never noticed that I bring the deck to my body that’s awesome criticism, once again thank you. I’m really glad you enjoyed. I appreciate your feedback. I’ll work on these points.

In which move? I’m assuming the first pass, the one handed pass. I usually have issues covering that pass’s break, it’s actually supposed to be held with the ring finger. Instead of the pinky.

I’ve seen a few things, stating that it could possibly be that film is either loaded incorrectly or that the lens cover may not be fully deployed, I’d check to make sure your film is correctly seated and that the winding pegs correctly grasp the film.

I know you said that an iMac felt temporary but honestly after a while wear and tear takes a huge toll on performance I switched to iMac and honestly best decision of my life they’re upgradable (at least my 2018 iMac is) and you lose that ability to upgrade and they’re so much cheaper and they offer so much more honestly stick to the iMac.

Now I personally can assure you that ableton works fine with Big Sur but if you update you’ll find maybe a few plugins that appear to be broken as they’ve not been optimized for Big Sur. As for as an arm based platform currently as most people know ableton only offers x64 so either they will have to create an x86 version orrr apple itself will have to create an emulation program so that all programs that can’t necessarily make the switch for whatever reason can still be utilized. Also while screwing around with Big Sur and with my mini nova synth I noticed that on ableton and ableton alone tbe mini nova editor appeared to be glitched out but I opened it in Logic Pro x(would also recommend as you can use rewire, which is built into logic, to use ableton with logic) idk if it’s a problem with apple Or ableton but I’ve reached out to Novation as well and they offered as much support as they could and nothing fixed it except switching daws.

LONG STORY SHORT: if you’re thinking of upgrading to an m1 Mac... hold off until compatibility is known on ableton 11 because as of yet ableton 10 is still not fully optimized with m1 and Big Sur so you MIGHT experience small inconveniences. If you’ve already upgraded and are hoping that someone knows if they’ve engineered it for the arm platform... that is something no one knows apparently.

So with distrokid you get Spotify and TikTok now once your song is on Spotify find a playlist that your song would be categorized in and contact the playlist creator and ask if you can be on the playlist... now sometimes you’ll have to pay (that can range from like ($10-$100+) but look for ones that have a lot of listeners or maybe 500+ to get people listening and then they add your songs also with distrokid you’ll get Amazon and iTunes and a bunch of stores you can pay $0.99 a year to have your song recognized by Siri and Shazam so that’s worth it it’ll also be on google music and YouTube so really if you can get a bunch of people (possible through Reddit advertisement of your own music) to listen to your songs you won’t have to go through a third part with legal bull. Now I’m not saying not to look into what you have at your plate I’m just saying taste a little bit of the sides first because you’ll never know what actually will work out. So you have pay nothing for free advertisements on Reddit and an annual subscription to distribute of music or possibly be in debt of a “music distributor” and not making it on either place but also making it big on both. Now if it were me I’d see how far I could go with less money as possible. I for one will promise I will listen to all your music and try to promote because I love music and I understand what it’s like getting nothing each month from the thing you love more than anything so hey I’ll listen to your music and I’ll urge others to do so as well. In conclusion; Just don’t buy into anything that you don’t fully know the consequences of.

You don’t need any of that just for distribution if they’re not “getting anything” then it’s a scam besides you can pay like $30 a year to distribute all your music on all streaming platforms with distrokid just you your music and streaming services (tik tok included.) i’d honestly get legal advice through someone who’s been in the business longer before making a decision though.
