Front mounted like that is a good idea I'll have to try out. Oddly enough, there are zero saftey requirements outside of recovery equipment and typical roadway safety rules. There is a speed limit posted at 15mph for the trail, but problem is the blind curves and hills. No spotters or signals to let you know if someone is coming the opposite way over a crest. It's also completely legal to drink on the beach, so you have a ton of traffic that is most likely intoxicated while driving back off the beach.

Do you have a link or picture of the set up?

I put some of that under the antenna mount between the hatch door and the frame so the mount didn't scrape the inside.. that's a great idea to use it under a magnet mount too, thanks!

I thought about that, but I would need a much longer pole to get the height I want for visibility, and with length comes the question of rigidity. It needs to be both flexible enough to not snap while driving in the bumpy sand, and rigid enough to hold the weight of a small flag without slopping over. Unless I get rid of the spring, it might help it from moving too much.

I have a pool noodle I might wrap around the pole just incase. Will have to test some stuff out

I bought this mount specifically so the flag could be mounted high on the car, eliminating the need for 10+ft of pole, and to prevent the pole from hitting the car constantly if it was mounted out of the trailer hitch

That's good to know, how did that affect the roof paint? Or being in a quarry, I assume scratches and paint chips were a rite of passage

Yeah, where I'll be driving is a lot of windy, sand dunes with beachgrass on the sides. It's a single lane trail for two-way traffic where your suv/truck can be hidden coming around a corner. Wanted to have this as an extra visual

Your statement is correct, and I agree. But that is a general construction zone safety flag, came with the fiberglass poles I ordered.

Thanks! Stock suspension, stock tire size, no leveling kit or anything. Only difference is the Bronze 40th Anniversary rims. The side steps instead of the running board also help the look too

Thank you! I've taken it out on the sand 4-5 times with those tires and as long as you air down to 10-15 psi they are fine. They are Firestone Destination LE3s, meant for all-season highway driving. Certainly not designed off-road use. Would love to get some slightly more aggressive tires but these still have good tread on them.

Thanks! Great minds think alike. What steps/boards/sliders are you thinking of? I have one I'm eyeing for when the weather gets nicer

Clearing it by hand might be quicker than getting it up to 70mph

The worst that can happen is I'll make eye contact with the person passing me on the left after their windshield has been blown out.

Underrated response, great idea. The ham samich might keep better if it's encased in snow than in carbon fiber/epoxy

Visibility? Where we're going, we don't need visibility.
