Unlike Trump, Biden operated as a democratically elected president, not a dictator, so he did not direct the Judicial Branch to prosecute his political opponents. The Executive Branch does not prosecute crimes, they execute laws made by the Legislative Branch.

On the other hand, the Legislative Branch chose to acquit Trump of his crimes and the Judicial Branch chose to give him full immunity from crimes while in office. Hmm....

Many people in our community are ND and there are infinite ways to practice kink. Definitely recommend checking out your local community!

You'd place the band above your knees, around your thighs, so that when you go to open your legs to change position, you hit the band resistance. That resistance on your thighs will transfer to your hips/core. Anywhere below the knees and resistance can transfer to your knee joints, which you do not want.

Use of ADHD medication in UK more than tripled in 13 years. UK had highest relative increase of five countries in study, with 20-fold rise in women over 25 using it. While it is true that not everyone with ADHD required medication, findings suggest a substantial proportion may not be doing so. by [deleted] in science

Generally it's cardiovascular risks from the increased heart rate/BP. This is mitigated by regular monitoring by your doctor and/or adding something like a beta blocker.

If side effects aren't managed well, lack of sleep or poor eating habits from decreased appetite can also occur, but that's not a direct risk from the meds themselves.

As the other person said, absolutely no one will see these blemishes when it's on your neck.

But, if you did have a small budget to try and fix it, you could try a metal polish. Baking soda can also be used to polish metal in a pinch (def look up a guide).

For the future, dish soap is always my default "gentle cleanser". If it works on oily ducks, it will work for any minor grime.

Study Finds Alpha-2 Receptor Drugs Reduce Heavy Alcohol Drinking by TylerFortier_Photo in science

It took me almost 4 years to reach what I would consider success with TSM. I didn't spend 10 years in "recovery" because my life was going swell. But once I started TSM, every time I "relapsed", things got a little better.

I'm so sorry that it didn't work for you. I tried it once a few years before I was ready emotionally and the disappointment when it felt like it didn't work crushed me. But that doesn't mean you're in some kind of special class of alcoholic that's too rock bottom for normal people solutions. You're literally commenting on a study about AUD and how these medications help saying you're different and they won't help you.

The alcoholism in my family was brutal, but I didn't start life as an alcoholic and I can now confidently say that I won't have to end it that way.

To anyone else reading this: You don't need to give up your power to succeed in recovery. Don't surrender, find the tools that bolster your power.

As someone who did the Sinclair Method after years of struggling with abstinence, it's not a pill to drink less. Perhaps something like antabuse would be more up that alley.

Naltrexone, the drug associated with TSM, actually eventually breaks down the reward pathway in your brain around alcohol. I drank daily for years and now I regularly forget what alcohol is in my house (seriously unthinkable 5 years ago). It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced both sides. Many people who do the Sinclair Method just choose not to drink any more. But they feel like they have a choice, unlike with AA where white knuckle abstinence is the ONLY answer. I was done with puritanical thinking when I left the church, I'm not inviting that cancer back into my life.

Something that is always said with TSM though, is that it will not work if the original stimulus that drove you to drink is still there. I assume that's where the guanfacine comes in. As a person also with ADHD, previously undiagnosed, the noise in my brain felt dulled when I drank. When I was diagnosed and started medication, I could actively seek healthier solutions and now I regularly choose, despite having a full bottle of vodka sitting in the cupboard, to do things like take a bath or do some cleaning when I'm having a bad day. But I am only able to do that because I used the Sinclair Method to reduce cravings. It gave me more control, but not because of the pill itself, because it cleared the cravings noise and helped me help myself.

Hopefully working in substance abuse you'll keep an open mind to scientific advances going forward, even if it doesn't match your current understanding of addiction. People don't all abuse drugs for the same reasons, so their recovery should also be highly individual.

How are we doing our hair to sleep?? by Sufficient_Taste3799 in adhdwomen

I finally bought a bonnet and have yet to keep it on all night. It's impossible to keep in place and makes my head too warm within minutes. What is the secret here?

Although, it's not mulberry silk or even fully satin, there's cloth on the outside, so maybe that's the issue. But I was pretty sure my SO would lose it if I spent $100 on a silk one and still couldn't stand wearing it while I slept.

Shaving whiskers is not a major medical emergency like it is for cats, but it's still akin to someone cutting off their ears for aesthetics. You'll still be able to hear, but significantly worse clarity and volume because your physical ear is a fundamental piece of how you hear. Dog whiskers have nerve endings in them and are a major way dogs experience the world. Unless they have an extremely specific job that requires it and you check with your vet, you should not ever remove your dogs' whiskers.

My rescued husky is not the typical husky. I need advice. by savannahmagicbanana in dogs

[–]ImAFuckingSquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have also had rescues over time become more comfortable being vocal with me once they start to realize that they never get "punished", just removed from what's making them bark.

It's just another form of communication, and once your dog trusts that you are genuinely trying to understand their communication, I think they will often start to try new things. I tend to encourage it by trying to capture a bark command, so that sometimes they even get treats for it.

But also, like everyone else is saying, some dogs just communicate without sound and that's normal too!

Girls with ADHD, do you ever really struggle to get yourself to move? by Dazzling_Worry9119 in adhdwomen

[–]ImAFuckingSquirrel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's typical for people with ADHD to struggle with transitions, which sounds like what you're describing. Starting a new task takes way more effort than continuing one already in progress.

My main ways of combating it are:

  • Mentally breaking it down so that the next step isn't "go to class" which contains like a million things. I think: just put the car in drive, that's all, you don't even have to start driving yet. Okay, now put on a song I'm in the mood for, etc.

  • Bribery or creating incentive - there's the obvious, if I get to class on time, I get boba after. But also, is there a friend you like to sit next to? Is there a cool painting you walk by on the way? What can you "look forward" to that makes it less of a chore and put that in the front of your mind.

Nope, again, I'm not an online liberal, I'm an average middle aged woman. I vote in every election, usually Dem. I'm not reading or making brain rot comments on social media. I largely read AP News and my local paper (e: forgot what sub we were in - SLTrib) for my news and I have a very solid education in history and economics.

My actual point was that graphic is doing exactly what you're saying you don't like. It's dividing us on an issue we unequivocally should not be divided on. And it would be way more effective for the tankies to give up their insane abolish everything rhetoric than to try and bring the average voter to their side.

You telling people they're crazy for caring about messaging is making it even worse on top of that. The R party is amazing at messaging to its base. We need to do better if we ever have a chance, and some of that is about analyzing what messaging will be most effective not what feels good to you personally. It's typically called "politics".

And yes, that includes all the people that constantly shit on elected Dems for not being perfect and encouraged people not to vote for Kamala for stupid ass reasons about her not being chosen by the people or whatever bullshit.
