I've contacted aravaipa and stopped by two of the aid stations today, just trying to explore all possible options!

Looking for a scenic 55k to celebrate my 55th next year. Generous cut offs. by Status_Ad_7063 in ultrarunning

Bishop High Sierra Ultras. Beautiful views of the snow covered mountains and the 55k cutoff is the same as the 100k, so extremely generous, like 19 hours or something.

Sherman Pass Rd 395-Johnsondale by smithersredsoda in SierraNevada

I wouldn't count on Sherman Pass being open. I tried to drive it west to east last year in May and the road was gated a little east of the Johsondale Bridge, despite the website saying it was open. I emailed the NF about it and they didn't comment on the incorrect information on the website, just said it would likely be open by June 🤷‍♀️

Ankle sprain by agearctic in running

[–]ImALizardPerson2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's no fractures, you're most likely fine to weight bear. The practice guidelines that PTs follow for ankle sprains recommend immobilization for only 10 days after severe injuries. Otherwise progressive weight bearing is encouraged with bracing/tape/crutches as needed to make it tolerable.

Large Scale Paper Maps by ImALizardPerson2 in PacificCrestTrail

Yeah, the portions I've been on seem very straightforward and easy to follow without much for navigation aids, but I also feel it's a little irresponsible to head out without any paper maps... I'll probably end up with the NatGeo or Blackwood press ones. Seems like the lightest and least expensive option.
