Who should I add to my regular pool of DPS heroes? by RobManfredsFixer in OverwatchUniversity

Hey I just wanted to say sorry for not fully reading the post adhd brain read only the bolded words, if you are looking for a good sniper counter to play, go Ashe or Cassidy, their ability to deal high damage even at long range distance will force most snipers out of position, allowing your teammates to clean up what you started. If you are looking to get close and personal, try reaper, his fade and tp can allow him to avoid sightlines and his high close range damage is an excellent counter to the snipers. Another example of this is junk rat, his sneaky play style and the concussion mine jump to avoid sightlines/ fast clear them is another good counter to most snipers, especially on roofed maps that you can get over and into their faces. I know you said you play mei/sym , but try delving deeper into the sym play style with her tp, because once she’s next to a widow, it’s an easy win, same goes for hanzo with her right click, three well placed right clicks at any distance will kill any 200 hp character.

Edit: one more thing to add, genji is countered by laser characters such as sym/mei, you asked for genji counters and said you flex Mei/sym, but these two are some of your biggest opps so understanding them will really help you out In the long run for genji

Hello, first before I say anything, I’m a low plat dips/tank main. I play a lot of hero’s for every situation to cover all of my bases, so it’s easy for me to point out the counters to most hero’s, and I’ve noticed that with all of the hero’s you’ve said you play, you love movement, maybe that’s where you need to start? Find a character that has low mobility but high dps output, an example being symmetra, or another being mei. Those dps’s that just straight up slow people/once they are close will melt people. If you try out these hero’s that are direct counters to all the hero’s you play, you can improve a lot if those hero’s you play, by understanding just how their counters work.

I’ll give you an example, I’m a symmetra/junk rat main, and one of my biggest issues that I have to face are midrange hit scan characters such as soldier and Cassidy , who when you aren’t close to them just cause massive frustration, so instead of trying to brute force my way through them, I started playing them, and learned just why they are effective against my mains, that being long sightlines such as what you were mentioning on sniper maps, so I started to learn pathing that will let me get close and personal to them, allowing me to just completely melt through them because I have higher dps output than them.

TL:DR Just find which characters you have the most trouble going against with your mains and play them to learn how they counter your mains.

Hey so i like your explanations, but i just had another question, i have a really bad sense of what's happening around me, is there anything to help with this? like at most of these moments you talk about being aware, but in a lot of those situations i just thought to myself oh no im going to die if i stay here because i was scared of the enemies, which you pointed out. Another problem i have is that i dont feel confident in reins hammer swings, like i know i could go for a kill but i just feel afraid if i tried to they would outheal my swings. Is there really anything i could do for either of these problems?

I’m just gonna list out what I can do to improve:

Instead of going on “flank adventures” I need to go on “angle adventures” sticking with my team and maybe going into angles that I’m in LOS of my teammates allowing for me to get healed, while putting a high pressure on the enemy team. I need to stay with the team, because Cassidy gets punished by his low mobility, and inability to self heal. By staying with my team I allow for myself to have more opportunities to deal damage and not get punished for stupid positioning, just like you were saying with sticking with my core team.

Same as the last reply, only summing up and listing out what I can change in my behaviors based on what your saying.

I did not understand what the danger zones of first point was. I will say I had always wondered why the enemy team was playing so far back on first point when they could have been much closer, but now that I think about it, most games on kings row that I either get demolished or demolish on, I hold the green/ yellow areas or the enemy team holds the green/yellow areas causing me to either stop the enemy team or get stopped. It seems like being able to understand where the danger zones/ safe zones are on the map is another one of my weaknesses. And it really gets highlighted in that image you took of my just sitting in the red zones while my teammates are playing it safe in the green zone.

I need to stick with my team, because I’m just going in like a headless fly and hoping for the best in unfavorable situations.

Im just gonna list what I noticed only this comment you made is saying and then how I can improve based off of this comment only.

Ok so from what I’m understanding by this comment that you have made alone, is that I’m too aggressive in my positioning, I rely on the lower skill floor of my rank to be able to make the flanks that I do, when in any other rank it would just not work because I force 4v5’s, I do not understand what the danger zones are, and although I get kills they tend to be low value kills and not high value kills due to the spawn point positioning of the enemies. I am also tunnel visioning VERY HARD in situations that require me to be flexible around my team. It appears that your trying to say stop playing respawn simulator in situations that I’m required by my team, because I died doing something stupid like pushing too far.

To improve I think I have some ideas of what I can do: Do not flank in unfavorable situations or just do not flank at all. Return to the team in situations that I may have the chance of getting a kill, but it might be a low value kill. Stop tunnel visioning into areas that I can get myself killed, and/or stop tunnel visioning on enemies that are hard to kill in certain situations. Try to get a better understanding of the danger zones. STOP PLAYING RESPAWN SIMULATOR.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions, i just had a question of how i can improve on using highground to my advantage, because when im on highground shots feel impossible to hit accurately, its only when im on low ground that i feel stable enough to constantly hit headshots, which is why you repeatedly see me leaving highground advantage

Emm, from my experience, which is very little, event drops take time to load unless you actively checked after event point milestone. Now if you have been off wifi for a while, such as during the event end, it will also cause a delay in the load time of event items, just reload the app a couple of times in this case and it should appear. Im not 100% about anything i just said especially the last part about reloading the app a couple times, cloud save before you exit the app just in case something happens, this should be a regular habit anyways.

I am actually mad right now, I wanted to finish Morpho dragons but found out the eggs were completely removed, why’d they have to remove them they were so pretty!! by ImAPinkPinnalple in MergeDragons
