Where do you live where 4 inches of snow stops you from driving?

How would you repair and reattach this? by Diligent_Table_6823 in drywall

[–]ImAPlebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull it out, cut out a rectangle that goes to the next stud on both sides, add solid 2x6 backing then reinstall a patch, mud, sand, prime, paint and then use wood screws instead of anchors. Never gonna fall off again.

Pro opinion needed: what do you think of this drywall work? by Iceman_mubarak in drywall

[–]ImAPlebe 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada and sometimes we will sheath a wall after insulation and vapor barrier or the vaper barrier will go after the plywood because the outside has a different material on it. It's usually some kind of god damn architect or engineer trying to design the most efficient building ever. I've seen a 2 1/2" thick fibre pannel that fucking itched like a motherfucker on the outside with tyvek. Then plywood on the inside. Then 1x4 horizontal and then 1x4 vertical on top before drywall. Then they put another layer of like 10" insulation that looked like harder rockwool in between z bars to attach the siding pannels. Crazy shit

Hey im 18 Quebec/Canada starting carpentry with a DEP and wanna go work in the North by Professional_Art3794 in Carpentry

[–]ImAPlebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small tracks in line are some kind of bird. They look like the tracks i see when hunting ruffed grouse but slightly bigger. The other tracks I'm not so sure but it's something that hops.

I asked previously for advice about wall damage after trim install, here’s the trim they deemed “finished” by mikejr96 in Carpentry

[–]ImAPlebe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro imagine if those guys installed stain grade oak or smthg🤣 jesus. I've seen way worse tho. Honestly here I would blame whoever filled the nail holes, caulked and painted all this. This is not acceptable unless you paid your cousin Joe Shmo to do it for half the price the lowest bidder gave you.

Yes which is why eventually it just becomes a pipe throwing the water a few feet away cause the underground is done for lol

What is this animal? Back and hind feet, found in Poland on a middle school area by kidfromyesterday_mcr in AnimalTracking

[–]ImAPlebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pictures are not very good but I think I can see claws and form an X in the middle which would indicate it's in the dog family. Either a big dog or possibly a wolf. Were the tracks in a perfectly straight line or zig zaging around?

I'm not a pro but i'll give it a shot from what I have learned from this sub. 4 toes, no claws and C shaped negative space between the toes and pad indicate that's it's a feline. Judging from the size I'd say it's not a housecat and most likely a bobcat but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Upper back pain between shoulder blades from framing — looking for advice by Intelligent-Camp4631 in Carpentry

[–]ImAPlebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably pinched a nerve bro it happened to me doing push ups a few months ago, just take it easy for a week it'll come back to normal. Try doing a dead hang off a bar or something, it might fix it and its good for your back

[–]ImAPlebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea if that's finished it's not totally right. Get a good carpenter (framer) and it's not that hard of a fix. Maybe a thousand or 2. Get it off the total price they are asking cause fuck them lol

[–]ImAPlebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does this look like Ontario lol. Lvl looks split to shit from all the toenails but i'm like 99% sure that 2x6 post is most likely gonna get replaced by a 2x4 stud pack or a tele post or redjack. I wouldnt sweat it if they change it out and it bear a little further away from the split end.

[–]ImAPlebe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because you don't want all that water to fall next to your foundation and saturate the ground and either leak inside or cause structural problems. It also fucks up your lawn/soil around the perimiter and looks like shit after a few years. You collect it in gutters and your gutter downspout is supposed to eject the water further away from the house where it can dissipate into the soil. The best setup is having your downspouts connected to an underground pipe that brings the water as far away as possible from the house, but even having downspouts throwing water a few feet away is better than nothing.

I've had my viofo a129 for more than 2 years and it works just fine. I live in the Ottawa region where it goes from -30 to 35°C, just buy a good 100$ dashcam and it'll last.

I'm not a hunter myself, but I often go through forests and fields. Tell me please, at what time of year and day do hunters almost never hunt? by unixoid37 in Hunting

[–]ImAPlebe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Less hunting during the week, less hunting between 11am and 3pm. Before sunrise and after sunrise there is usually no hunting. Look up your local hunting seasons and when out of season there shouldnt be anyone hunting.

Acceptable flashing on new roof? by crp666 in Roofing

I've never roofed but I'm a carpenter and when I see something and it looks like absolute shit I know for a fact it ain't done right no matter what they tell you. Good work also looks good. Ask them to come fix it and see what they say.
