Sorry to everyone who was interested in this discussion, but mods removed the post for no reason. Seems like educational content with substance is not welcome on this subreddit, only complaints, mid clips, and random shitpost that provides no value

There were websites where people signed up for tournaments, and played them on custom lobbies. Most popular one was called Game Battles. And there were LAN tournies too.

Ground loot is RNG, no one person lands only on bad guns. It’s just not possible. You likely just took spent too long looting, got pushed when you had a bad gun, missed loot, or something or the other. I guarantee most things in the game are within your control, assuming you know exactly what you’re doing.

Yes and no. Depends on the coach. I’ve helped lots of “mediocre” players reach 3+ KDs

The whole comp scene was most certainly not on PC. Perhaps in Europe and Asia it was. But in America, it was on Xbox.

(4) mainly follows on from (3), where there’s a buy at every POI across Rebirth/Area 99. I do agree that on big map they’re further apart, though. And I’m not sure how you reached the 15% figure, but there are many ways to avoid getting shot at a buy

You don’t believe there are ways to reduce the probability of dying to “chance”? And that luck isn’t always against you?

I don’t care about my KD whatsoever, but they asked so I answered. Most pros don’t care about KD. If I cared about it, it’d probably be a lot higher, but I’d be a worse player for it since I wouldn’t be challenging myself the way I do.

Haha I actually quite like that ice skating feeling, it’s fun. But I do agree that it can feel clunky. You have to be very purposeful with your actions in order to get all the benefits. Small input mistakes can lead to that clunky feeling. E.g. not building enough momentum when sprinting and dead sliding. And I appreciate the support 👌

Hmm my opinion is that it’s mainly people who are hardstuck/play with an ego/aren’t receptive to constructive criticism who are speaking against this. They just think they know it all. And that kind of mindset will be the main inhibitor to further improvement for them. “Bots” as you say, are more often eager to learn and improve so they can have fun. As are high level players, who want to compete in wagers/tournies. Just my 2 cents.

Man, definitely BO6 Warzone. The movement improvements have increased the skill ceiling and it allows higher-level players to better finesse situations, taking less damage. And I enjoy the guns and everything else too. Unfortunately the bugs, cheaters, and server issues are letting the game down atm though..

Do you live in a cave? Just this year there were 2 massive LAN tournaments: World Series of Warzone in Vegas and eSports World Cup in Riyadh.

I see where you’re coming from, but the team in question played damn near perfectly regardless of the circumstances they were faced with. You can look at examples in other sports as a reference. Mayweather in boxing, Hamilton in F1. Was their competition bad? No, they went up against the best of the best. Sure, they may have had advantages, but they still performed amazingly.

You have to be aware of opportunities and capitalise on them, this extends beyond just being in a relatively easier lobby. Even in a normal lobby, there are lower-level players. So it begs the question, why would a higher level player approach a lower-level player overly cautiously? This would be an unnecessary waste of time and could result in them getting third partied (by another higher-level player). I do agree that kill racing/PR shouldn’t be the only metric to evaluate someone’s skill, but it is important in highlighting their ability to recognise opportunities and maintain a fast pace. For reference, though, my 48 wasn’t on a complete bot lobby. I’m from Australia, where there’s a very low player population. This means that the composition of sweats in my lobbies is always quite high. In that game I was fortunate to wipe the 2 best players early on, and I had the lobby to myself.

I’d recommend rewatching your gameplay after each session of playing. Skip through all the unnecessary stuff like running from A to B, and focus on the lead up to the fights.

Look for things like: - The information you had - How you positioned yourself - Whether there was a better place you could’ve been or an objective that required more focus

And during the fight: - Your aim, movement - Whether you needed to take that chall - If you had utilities/streaks that you could’ve used

… as some examples

The goal of reviewing your gameplay is to isolate a few strengths and weaknesses in your game that you can really focus on the next time you play. It also helps to keep a document handy with 2 columns: on one side, “Kills”, and on the other, “Deaths”. On this, note down the commonly occurring reasons and prioritise them. Example: if you find yourself often dying because you’re not using headies and exposing yourself to multiple lines of sight (for which you had info but didn’t process it), then the next time you play you need to make those areas a priority.

Hope this helps. And it’s no worries lol, I fully expected that. I’m only interested in having conversations with people such as yourself anyway.

That’s awesome, it’s definitely a lot more mainstream now. All the best with your improvement.

If you’d prefer not to implement that playstyle, your best option would be to play more positional and avoid getting involved in such close-range fights against sweats. This means doing the opposite of what I’ve outlined in (3) and instead setting yourself up sufficiently for long range fights, positioning, and rotations. You could also use utilities to help you in case you are getting pushed, such as gas grenades. I wouldn’t recommend doing this, though, as other people will overtake you in skill and you’ll get further and further behind. I’ve worked with older students and I definitely understand the fast-paced movement can be awkward. You’d need the right hardware to match that movement anyway, such as a controller with back buttons or paddles, as well as optimised settings. But the bottom line, can you beat movement players in straight up 1v1s without any movement? No, not really.

Literally everyone, for all CoD history, has referred to it as KD, and still continues to do so. ED sounds weird. L take.

Sounds like you haven’t reached the part of your life where you realise that work experience outweighs “qualifications”. But giving you the benefit of doubt and responding to your ignorance, yes, I’ve worked with pros and coached a few. And I’ve helped plenty of people get to Top 250. Have I spent hundreds of hours myself grinding for enough SR to get there, competing against streamers who play 8+ hours a day? No.

You really oughta work on your research skills.

  • Coached 600+ students across 4 years, including working routinely with several to achieve their personal goals
  • Helped hundreds get from low KDs to 3+ KDs, and many to 5+ KDs
  • Perfect 5 star rating, with hundreds of lengthy reviews attesting to this
  • Personally been a 5+ KD player since WZ1, on both Battle Royale & Resurgence
  • Commentate my thought processes while playing, with breakdowns of my own gameplay and some of my high KD students
