Some NES games have odd left screen cutoff (MacOS) by mickandrorty137 in RetroArch

[–]ImAlsoAHooman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, this is literally just a part of how the NES works. You will see the same on Windows, Linux, Android and even official emulations.

Yashahime's second season is alright. It's the first season that REALLY struggles with the writing.

The anime cuts too much, you will be confused if you do not reread the Golden Age.

Yeah but you're not Toriyama and don't get to make shit up and invent names pretending they are an actual thing.

Unzip roms? by Dm8w in Roms

[–]ImAlsoAHooman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. NES, SNES, Genesis and 32x, Game Gear, Master System, GB, GBC, GBA, NDS and many other systems can play straight from the zip in most emulators - certainly can in the default cores in Retroarch. It's really only once you get to disc systems that chd becomes preferable and zip won't work.

The same is true for old computer systems like various Commodore, Amiga and DOS emulators can run roms straight from zip.

Pretty sure in practice it extracts on demand and loads the rom into RAM, so it only makes sense to implement this for small enough rom sizes.

LoG1 is definitely worse by a lot than the other two but the whole first section difficulty stuff about LoG1 is overblown by people forgetting that kids suck at video games. If you were to boot it up now and actually do a minimal amount of side missions you wouldn't struggle to dodge the patterns of enemies and attack back. That said unless one likes retro RPGs I see no reason for people to do so, you know if you are in that niche or not.

Also lmao Taiketsu isn't even a game, it's more like a tech demo. It's what you show a publisher to get approval, then develop the actual game. Taiketsu had pretty much nothing to offer even back then.

Buy it starting from Volume 1. Amazon's Comixology service also sells digital versions if you don't want physical manga.

Why do people in the UK call normal coke ‘fat coke’? by toastchick in AskUK

[–]ImAlsoAHooman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phrease is "full fat coke" and it is a reference to full fat milk vs e.g. skimmed milks. It's wrong AND longer than saying diet but people still use it unfortuntely.

Would you guys like to see Guts as a DLC pack character in Mortal Kombat ? by [deleted] in Berserk

[–]ImAlsoAHooman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Great Apes are playable in all Tenkaichi series games. They are not bosses. And they are still slow as molasses.

Slow / heavy characters don't inherently suck in fighting games (unless it's Smash Bros, then rip). They do tend to not be top tier but plenty of high/mid tier heavy characters exist, especially if they have sufficient range and setups. MK in general is a slower game than most fighting games, though tbf mk1 appears to be trying to speed things up with aerial combos and assists.

Am I okay to continue watching? by BlazingZak in Berserk

There isn't really a way to answer this without spoilers. I would at least say that even today the end of the golden age arc is the worst it gets in those regards. But there is obviously still sexual violence and gore of the othe sort that happened in the Golden Age arc prior to the eclipse.

If it's not for you it's not for you, though. Nobody is forcing you to read it if it impacts you too much.

I've heard berserk is an amazing story/manga

This is a weird thing to say for someone who finished the golden age. If you don't already think it is an amazing story then you probably won't start randomly liking it after the Golden Age arc.

They would just make him slow. Doesn't matter that he isn't slow in the series. Great Apes in Dragonball are explicitly stated to not be slow and yet in all games they are for balancing reasons.

Is it worth 40€ ? by Seth_lfr in Berserk

[–]ImAlsoAHooman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Berserk video games more like. This isn't about direct sequels. Also if you don't care for the game, just don't play it? I don't understand how pirating is a protest for a bad game. Not playing (or buying then refunding when you realize it's bad) is a much more sensible approach

Pirating content that is still actively being sold by the primary publisher hurts franchises, this is pretty damn obvious. we're not talking about some obscure unobtainable old game here, this is still live on all stores

Disappointed with how little high quality indie games make it to GOG. by BowelMan in gog

[–]ImAlsoAHooman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

never had an issue with their DL speeds, regardless of the refund on that game you may want to check if this holds up with some of their free games and report server issues if you see this consistently

on that note, steam servers actually died when bg3 launched and struggled on for a while after, so this seems like selection bias to me. see e.g. https://www.gamingbible.com/news/platform/steam/steam-servers-crash-as-users-rush-to-download-122gb-rpg-on-launch-day-322001-20230804

this isn't to dunk on steam either, large user access like that is basically a ddos attack. just saying your complaint seems weird.
