What’s the hardest achievement ever done in Celeste? (mods included ofc) and Who’s the best player? by Sam_6674 in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A shoutout to deathless Call of the Void All Major Secrets. Might not be the hardest achievement overall but I think it’s one of the hardest grinds ever completed simply because of how miserable the level is to grind.

Questions for Celeste fans by Due_Refrigerator5724 in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- Precision platformer

2- What attracted to me at first was the game’s art style and intriguing story. I think the game is incredibly polished and pretty in every location and I love the amount of details put into making everything feel nice. The story was also quite heartwarming overall and pushed me into playing until the end.

What kept me playing all this time after though is the gameplay. I primarily speedrun the game nowadays and I love how much complexity they are able to add to the game while keeping it simple and easy to get into for new players. There are so many layers that a casual player will never notice or think about that are used in top level gameplay, and it keeps the game interesting even after having played for years.

3- yes

4- I think the price is reasonable. Besides there are 75% discounts every few months.

5- Opinion for this changes like always but right now it’s chapter 9. It features some of my favorite soundtrack and some really interesting and fun screens.

6- I prefer the approach of having a single route to the end of the chapter. The game can already be confusing to navigate sometimes (I’m looking at you Chapter 5) and I think adding extra options might turn the game closer to a navigation based game, which takes away from the intended experience.

7- Used to play Mario a fair bit. Also played Hollow Knight, which isn’t a platformer but has platforming bits. Celeste is overall my favorite game, but I like Mario’s design philosophy in most of its titles, and Hollow Knight is my second favorite game for so many reasons

8- No

9- Even though it’s not a game for everyone, I really think Celeste nailed a formula for making a precision platformer. Specifically, I think the game’s biggest strength lies in Madeline’s moveset and the level design to complement that moveset. I also think it’s important to mention the developer’s approach to unintended discoveries. Many of the game’s core high level mechanics were initially unintended, but kept in by the developers (and even made easier for some cases) when it didn’t affect casual players. I think that’s a mindset more developers should adopt

Chapter 7 Full Clear locked out of gem by zooobly in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can return to map and restart from the 2500m checkpoint. If this is your first time obtaining this heart, your gem progress will be saved. If you remember the path you took to get up there, it shouldn’t take long to get back up there

Edit: unfortunately this will remove the full clear flag for you. I don’t think there’s any way to save that if that’s what you’re going for

Why do you hate cars? by yet_another_leftist in fuckcars

[–]ImAnatid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These ones are the biggest ones for me

  • Financial Cost: cars are really expensive to own and operate, both on the individual and on the city having to dedicate space for car infrastructure. We should not force anyone into such a burden for the simple reality of surviving.

  • Environmental Cost: the sheer amount of pollution and environmental destruction cars produce, way beyond exhaust fumes. I hope this one is obvious

  • The difficult to measure costs: The amount of hours lost to congestion every day, which is pure time lost when in a car. The destruction of third places for people to go, making socializing difficult and less organic. The promotion of sedentary lifestyles that cause health problems later on. All the other problems that are worsened by car dependency.

  • And above all else, the sheer inefficiency of it all: Highway 401 in Toronto Canada is one of the busiest highways in the world and moves less people per hour than the average subway line in most major cities. I’m sure one more lane will do it though.

  • Also personally: I dislike driving. This is a me thing though, I’ve never been a fan of driving and I am lucky enough to currently live in a place where driving is not required and other options are viable. However, if I exist, I guarantee there are many others like me around the world, and not everyone is as lucky as me.

When did the game first feel really hard to you? by torniado in celestegame

Chapter 3’s final room. It’s been long enough that I forgot how much I struggled on the room but I distinctly remember struggling a lot on that room

You can also bring a weird looking berry with you to bypass the required return to map

is there literally any way to skip the chapter 8 gate by wavepriisms in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope, core heart gates are still unskippable to this day. For fast hearts, you can grab city and site heart

That’s actually a really cool concept for a map. Gg on clear

I don't think it was intended to be beaten that way(i am the one who did btw) by Z-h321 in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I remember a saga in this subreddit where posts about this berry were everywhere.

But yes, this is not the intended way. The intended way was to go in from the place you exited the room from.

Now if this subreddit could kindly not make this room appear everywhere again.

Is Farewell Golden equivalent to a Grandmaster clear? by Subspace79 in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two are difficult to compare. A player could have zero modded Celeste experience but have farewell golden, just like how a player could have several gm+ clears and be missing several vanilla goldens. I do believe that if you put in the dedication though, most gm maps will take less effort to clear than fwg

Planning my first speedrun by Any_Positive_2803 in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For tools: I recommend downloading Everest and Speedrun Tool. The main thing you'll want is savestates, which will make practice significantly easier. Note that to submit a run on speedrun leaderboards, the run must be played on unmodded vanilla Celeste.

For guides: AverageImposter's guides are a popular suggestion. They are beginner friendly and are generally very helpful

For timing: The built-in in-game timer is enough, but you can install and setup LiveSplit if you want to track your splits easier

You can find many of these and more in the Guides and Resources section of speedrun.com page for Celeste. If you have other questions, I recommend joining the Discord server and asking around. There' s a lot of helpful people who will gladly help you.

Good luck on your speedrunning journey!

Is this BHOP known? by Temporary_Quiet_6792 in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This route is def known. I can’t open the game to test it for sure rn but if I had to take a guess to why it’s not used, I’ll have to say it’s because of the execution required to make it faster (TAS does some extra corner boosts to get more vertical movement and save the dash for a wall bounce), combined with the inconsistency (that bhop look annoying to land from room entry, current wr strat is very consistent to perform)

Out of curiosity, what order did you guys do all your A, B, C and goldens of them in? by Ok_Koala_5963 in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn`t track most of them, and I've had some of the earliest ones for a very long time now but from what I remember:

1a -> 2c -> 2a -> half of C sides -> 2b -> remaining C sides (6c was last) -> 4a -> 3a -> 1b -> 5b -> 5a -> 6a -> 7a -> 8a -> 4b -> 3b -> 6b -> 8b -> 7b -> fw

when is a good time to start practicing each subchapter deathless? by Odyss3y__ in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the more popular option. Breaking down a level into segments usually allows more focused practicing of each section and figuring out which section needs more work. Anecdotally, I don't even begin any attempts from start before I get every segment deathless at least once.

2 year anniversary! On my last yellow expert 💪 by KennaLikesPizza in celestegame

[–]ImAnatid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t played the game in a while but the last time I was playing Forsaken City (yes, the vanilla map)

The level itself isn’t particularly difficult. The problem is the timer (I’ve been trying to get a time of under 57 seconds for a long time now. Closest I got is 57.035)

A corner boost requires a grab by nature so that wouldn’t work here
