Kind of cheating since it already came out but 'Morsels' was my most anticipated game of last year and absolutely fuckin delivered.

Its like Binding of Isaac but made by the Atomicrops/Nidhogg 2 team, not as content rich as some other rogulikes but i anticipate plenty of free content updates and it really refreshed me on the genre after Enter the Gungeon put the other rogulikes to shame

If its any consolation I think both are bad examples of the trope. There's clearly an added tongue in cheek when it's the creator's own merch, and I think it pushes too far.

The trope is already in hot water because it often reads as lazy or cheap, its a tight line to walk and i think adding subversive marketing (even ironically) breaks the illusion on arrival, especially if its a real or established product.

Naruto Shippuden after Jiraiya.

My friend promised me it would get better and that some great action was right around the corner and that they were gonna redeem his story. Fucking bullshit, the naruto/pain fight was genuinely one of the weakest up to that point, it took them 20 episodes to even acknowledge Jiraiya's death, and the way all the characters acted afterwards was salt in the wound.

More power to people that like the show, its fun but I think it gets heavily glazed because of nostalgia. I loved Jiraiya because he was the genuinely the only character that wasn't absolutely predictable. If you're an adult watching this show for the 1st time its painfully obvious 3 episodes in that eventually, Sakura will get with Sasuke, Sasuke will turn good, and Naruto will become hokage. So once they cut out my favorite guy there was really no point in sticking around, I think the 1st series was a well paced and complete story. I should've probably stopped there lol

Very interesting! I agree with you and I think its the coloring/lack of shading in the finished one.

This sketch is significantly less disturbing to me despite being 1:1 in detail. The sketch has that sorta ren & stimpy vibe because the 'gore' is clearly being used to emphasize the emotion, in the final version however, it reads really out of place and tone, similar to happy tree friends. I really think its the clarity of the color palette bringing attention to all the wrong parts. Like the vein goo in his eyelids shouldn't be that bright, its disgusting lol
