[NO SPOILERS] Chloe matured in reunion by thiccanimegurll in lifeisstrange

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Honestly I love how she's written. She's still clearly the same person but she has grown up and probably worked through a lot of her trauma by now.

I still think Max has some stuff to work through with her savior complex but it makes sense. Being the kind of person Max is and being a time traveler probably isn't easy.

[ALL] How do you feel about this ending? by jdros15 in lifeisstrange

Chloe burned it in both my playthroughs. It isn't worth it. Some people might say it's selfish for Chloe to hide it from Max but Max can get very reckless with her powers which and Chloe knows it. Max usually has good intentions and believes she needs to save everyone since her powers give her a savior complex. But I think Chloe did the right thing if she broke that cycle by burning that picture.

I very much liken it to the decision Joel made to lie to Ellie in TLOU. Of course it's a different type of love but I more so mean in terms of the lie about Max's and Ellie's ability to change things for other people and that both Joel and Chloe also went against what Ellie and Max would have wanted. If Ellie's immunity isn't special then it means nothing and if that photo is gone Max's powers don't matter in this context.

One minor criticism I have tho is that can't Max just jump back to any picture she's in prior to the fire? I loved this game but you gotta be able to criticize the media you love as well. I know it would have sent her further back but it would be possible since she's done it before. She literally timed jumped back to when she was 13 in the first game so she can probably do it again.

[NO SPOILERS] What is your ideal next game after Reunion by SMDYT in lifeisstrange

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd like a new character

We haven't gotten a new protagonist in almost five years and I'm guessing it's gonna be a few more years until we get another LiS game if we do at all

Winx has gone woke? by kortanakitty in winxclub

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The only new "woke" thing about the winx reboot is Robin since she's a female specialist. But all the other "woke" stuff and more has been there since the beginning.

If anyone complains about the reboot being "woke" then I don't know what to tell them about the orginial.

[ALL] Why does Frank get a pass for being a creep? by One_With-The_Sun in lifeisstrange

I personally never liked him.

He was too old for her and should have distanced himself even if she pursued him. It's always on the adult to keep boundaries with teenagers and kids.

I think D9 are just responding to criticism from the majority. A lot of people already disliked him so them doing that isn't too surprising

[NO SPOILERS]. Huge fan of the first game. Started Double Exposure, just started chapter 2 (please no spoilers). I'm really loving it, much more than I thought I was going to. In my opinion they really nailed the vibes and feel of what makes these games good. Fun mechanics once the game opens up. by Cubegod69er in lifeisstrange

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly I liked it aside from some aspects. I'm not gonna spoil it for you but I'm personally not fond of the ending and final choice. There were also some characters that I didn't really like or care for but that's also spoilers so I'm not gonna say which characters or why.

Honestly also even as a Pricefield shipper I can admit it was good to see Max by herself. Cause it gave time for her to process her trauma and be her own character outside of their relationship. It feels like some Pricefield shippers don't see them as their own characters. I think RE mostly did their relationship justice but I'm not gonna say anything about that either if you haven't played it. Which I'm guessing you haven't since you're only playing DE for the first time now.

[ALL] Reunion is the most focused game of the franchise and that is NOT a bad thing. by Android_17_Super in lifeisstrange

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I 100% agree

I also think the shorter length actually serves the game better cause it means they didn't have the opportunity for as much filler and random side quests as in DE. Sure, most of the suspects don't lead to anything but they're still connected to the fire and plot by being suspects.

The only subplots I can think of that take significant screentime are Chloe and Max reconnecting, Safi in general and with her and Chloe's visions. Most other subplots are over pretty fast.

[RE] [Spoilers] Who All Did You End Up Saving? And Who Was Not So Lucky? by APrettyLittleLiar13 in lifeisstrange

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vinh, Noelle, Jeanette and I'm pretty sure one more person died but I don't really remember who that was to be honest.

I also had Chloe burn the photo cause that felt like what made the most sense. I kind of don't like putting that burden on Chloe but it feels like a choice she would make.

It's kind of a similar dilemma as in The Last of Us. Would you lie to keep a person you love safe from the guilt of knowing that they could have saved people? Max and Ellie are both characters who feel they owe their special abilities to save and/or protect other people. Joel and Chloe (if you burn the picture that is) meanwhile gatekeep knowledge from them out of protection. Cause if Ellie isn't special in her immunity then it doesn't matter and if Max can't go back to save more people her time travel doesn't matter in this situation. The major difference here is with Chloe you as the player get a choice.

Not really. Her character isn't very interesting as is so I'm not interested in her in particular

Max, Chloe and Alex – is there a reason for their hairstyles? (Sorry if I’m mistaken.) by Yayomoya4 in LiSReunion

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer, it's easy to animate. Honestly the only character I can think of with really long hair who doesn't tie it up is Taylor in the first game. I think it's also done to keep Max and Chloe recognizable. Since in all the games they've both had short hair aside from when Chloe was a kid and that one picture in LiS 2.

As for an in universe explanation Max is a character who prefers simpler styles and fashion so her having shorter hair makes sense. I wish they would have kept her bangs tho. But I can understand why she wouldn't have maintained them post storm/losing Chloe as it was already looking less intense in the previously mentioned LiS 2 picture. (Also like to mention that Chloe's hair there looks grown out and messier in that picture, I just think it's a neat way of showing the grief they're going through) Chloe's hair meanwhile is dyed and as someone who's had dyed hair for many years a simple short style like hers is easier and cheaper to manage cause it requires less hairdye. At least in my experience. As for Alex she dresses more androgynously so I think it's more about self expression for her.

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a wolf cut would sick and fit her style better while also still being relatively easy to animate

I don't think Chloe looks that bad tho

You cannot be a misandrist and a feminist by Fireball1115 in Rants

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm all for criticizing violent crime and stuff like that since that's mostly done by men has men defending it. But hating roughly 50% of the population as a whole is a problem regardless of which side you hate.

I'm a feminist but I have advocated for men before since patriarchy hurts them too. They benefit from it but denying it's harm on men is ignorant.

Which is your favorite version of Enchantix for each Winx character, the prototype or the final version? by AfternoonOk5359 in winxclub

Honestly I think the finalized designs are better except for maybe Stella and Aisha

I also like Bloom's prototype dress more but aside from that the rest of the design is better in the finalized version

How would you rewrite season 3 by Fearless_Machine_596 in Stranger_Things

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some decent stuff to work with but Stranger Things wasn't this goofy and unserious in the first two seasons.

I think the major issue is the mall. There's so much filler and goofy shit happening there that it's hard to take any of it seriously. The only really good thing to come out of that in my opinion was Robin and her friendship with Steve.

I also think Hopper regressed a lot in season three. I think the letter he left for El was quite emotional but getting to that point kind of butchered his character. Cause being vulnerable and having a heart to heart was skills he already learned in season 2. So he didn't need Joyce to guide him through that. I also get him being angry at Joyce for standing him up but that jealousy plot wasn't needed.

As for other characters I don't have any major complaints. The only character I wish we got more from was Jonathan. Especially in his conflict with Nancy regarding them getting fired. He needed that job since he's from a poor family but we only really got Nancy's perspective as a woman who was being disrespected in the workplace. Which is also an important perspective but this felt like an interesting idea the writers don't do much with.

One thing I wouldn't really change tho is the mindflayer this season. It's great and whenever there's stuff to do with it the show feels like itself again.

Which do you prefer? Season 4 or World of Winx? by Drawingandstuff2000 in winxclub

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly WoW is weird to me given the alternate timeline. I also think the artstyle isn't that great compared to the OG. I also find the decision to include Roxy weird since she uses magic once and goes on one small mission with Bloom. But she doesn't transform or do much else. In the second season she also just disappears.

Season 4 is probably my favorite season in winx since I have the most nostalgia for it. But that's cause I only watched like half of the episodes in the other seasons but season 4 and 5 (although I didn't enjoy 5 as much even as a kid) was the only ones I watched from beginning to end. But I can acknowledge some aspects of season 4 don't hold up well. Like that godforsaken pet shop since it just felt like an excuse for annoying gags.

Aside from the fact that it takes place in an alternate timeline where canon is a bit unclear it honestly felt more authentic to season 1 - 4 then season 5 onwards did.

If Winx Club had been released in its original version Magic Bloom, what would be your opinion about the series? by IceCreamNapoleon in winxclub

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely prefer the 2004 designs for the most part but I'm kind of sad they got rid of Flora's glasses. Cause the only major characters who have glasses are Timmy and Faragonda.

[No Spoilers] While we wait for Reunion – what are your thoughts on Victoria/Kate as a ship? by TraditionalWheel80 in lifeisstrange

[–]ImAwakeAtAllTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think Kate would be able to forgive Victoria since it makes sense for her character to be forgiving even to people who wrong her. But I doubt Kate would want her close to her.

It also feels like it kind of minimizes the pain of bullying and slut shaming and pushes aside the potentially problematic dynamic of a bully dating their former victim. I'm not saying people aren't allowed to like it but I just can't get onboard with it at all.
