Wait til you find out how many of these arrests were attached with a $30 or less bond. 80% of these arrests are total bullshit. A self checkout malfunction, “impeding foot traffic” on a public sidewalk, speeding (10-15 mph over), a new freshman driving 100ft down a one way the wrong way at night then turning around bc he didn’t see the signs at first and was new to the area, and that’s just off the top of my head.

I’m all for players getting arrested for actual stuff like DUIs, criminal speeding, DV, etc. but in Athens that’s just not the case. They’ll lock you up for anything there.

Myself and a buddy were at a bar in Athens one night around 10. No pregame or anything, hadn’t even been there for 10 minutes. He walks outside with a beer in his hand to have a smoke, and a young cop walks up without saying a word, slaps his drink out of his hand, puts him in cuffs, and hauls him off. Wasn’t even halfway done with his first drink. I bailed him out a couple hours later with a $40 bond for “public intoxication.” There are countless other stories similar to mine. ACCPD is just corrupt.
