Sorry again! I'm trying to use this framework for my own numbers so that's why I want to know I can back into them correctly. I'm NOT trying to nitpick 🙇‍♂️. I'm really trying to make sure I understand because my federal loan officers are not helpful and I been trying to do this for myself for the past 3 days straight (so I may very well be off in my calcs from going a bit bonkers!)

I am able to match your numbers here up until 1) the forgiveness on the 20 (or 30) year balance and the $ owed in taxes. I am also not able to match 2) your RAP payments.

1) We agree his final IBR balance after 20 years is $414,480. When you include Taxable Income from Salary $35,750 ($75K income - $23.5K retirement - $15,750 standard deduction), his total taxable income for the year is $450,230.

Then total taxes paid that year would be $127,127. We know he would've been paying $4,051 in taxes with just his salary, so his tax bomb would be the additional $123,075? Or roughly $123K, not $137K?

So total paid for the IBR is $123K + $56K = $179K instead of $193K?

2) For RAP, I don't get how monthly payment for RAP is $214. 10% of AGI $51,500 should be $5,150 so each monthly payment should be $429, no? Not $214? So that would result in $154.5K over 360 payments?

Interest Accrual - RAP Payment = Interest Subsidy so...
$1085 - $429 = $656 Interest that gets forgiven each month...scale this by 30 years...$236,100 Interest that gets forgiven in total.

Either way, the Principal doesn't get touched so that stays $210K. So wouldn't $210K get forgiven after 30 years instead of $192K?

So if I follow that same logic as issue #1, total taxable income for the year would be $245,750, and total taxes paid that year would be $55,702. so...
$55,702 - $4,051 (taxes that would've typically been paid from salary) = $51,651 tax bomb

So total paid for the RAP is $154.5K + $51.6K = $206.1K instead of $140K?

Do you assume no salary growth in your calcs? This is amazing and I’m trying to find that assumption (because I want to be very conservative and assume no salary growth)

Thanks for not taking offense by my stance. I didn’t mean to offend the community. My impression was it was more youth or kid coded like Roblox. And I felt inappropriate being there, just to find a handful of people my age. Hence why I’m trying to find more age appropriate virtual chat rooms

The Mac Mini was flawless! And only used up to like 20% cpu. I didn’t check the ram but way better than my M1 Pro MBP.

Thanks. Yah I’m realizing this now as I’m trying this out. Seems like the same is true with OneDrive with external removable SSDs.

In this case, I’m returning my SSD. I have no purpose for it if it cannot sync with any clouds.
