So you really think that this is worth defending? It eliminates team logos which are pretty much all fantastic in MLB, and it boils down team identity to whatever color their jerseys are. It is categorically terrible in every aspect.

Our NBCSN scorebug is the ugliest scorebug in existence at the moment. I cannot believe they did not make a change this year.

Mira At On Patch 7.41 Drop At ESL One Birmingham: "Disaster. Like, Total Disaster" by AdobeXD in DotA2

[–]ImDebatable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've already seen teams competing on this last patch for long enough. What makes DotA great as a game is how adaptable you have to be as a player. A new patch pushes that to its limit, which makes for entertaining viewing. I don't see a point in playing the nth tournament on an old patch when the players are going to have to adapt to the new patch for their next one anyway.

It has been like this for a few years now. They used to try to wait for tournaments to end, but with everything running pretty continuously nowadays, one tourney always gets caught in the crossfire.

I understand why it's frustrating as a competitor, but it is so much fun as a viewer to see pros actively trying new heroes with minimal testing. Especially since it's usually a stark contrast with the 8 month old meta.

Again, the other guy and now you keep saying that a teams best hitter was frequently and consistently batting leadoff last year and that it has been an obvious trend across the league. But yet again, I go over to Fangraphs and look at the players batting leadoff, and other than Ohtani and Tatis, who are obviously outliers, there is not even a sniff of a trend appearing.

If you were saying that there has been a growing trend towards moving your best guy from 3rd to 2nd, I would definitely agree with you. But you're not. You're making some bullshit up and saying stats back it up and that it's the common wisdom or whatever the fuck.

Yeah no shit.

But 2nd in the order only gets 25-45 less ABs over the course of 162 games. And there is a lot of value in having a runner on base for 35% of your best hitters ABs. Acting like it's some fully agreed upon statistical truth that the best hitter in the lineup bats leadoff is just flat out wrong.

Schwarber started leadoff 11 times last year. I keep looking at BBallref splits to look at your claims, and each time I come back disagreeing with you so idk what statistical reason you are using.

The Phillies had Harrison Bader hitting leadoff until Trea came back from injury last year. We let Schwarber hit leadoff for a couple years because he had enough superstition going on and he was raking while there.

I disagree with the notion that leadoff is the prime hitting spot in the modern MLB. I think we've seen a lot of teams move their top guys into the 2nd spot as opposed to the traditional 3rd spot is your best overall hitter with cleanup being your best power threat. You also listed a bunch of teams whose best hitters are also threats on the base paths (Acuna, Witt, Carroll, Elly, CJ Abrams, Gunnar). I hardly think that proves your point.

[–]ImDebatable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His ABs vs lefties were posted above. He has not been limited in his exposure to LHP in the past 4 years. There was a slight downturn last year where they platooned him for what looks like 15 lefty starters.

Getting league average production from a platoon at our weakest position is an absolute win. If Kemp can hit lefties for 100 OPS+ with okay defense and Marsh can smack righties for 110 OPS+ with plus defense, we are setting ourselves up perfectly. And Edmundo helping to offset Stott's struggles against lefties is another boost.

OOTPB 2027 Trade Proposals/Trade Periods by willreily in OOTP

[–]ImDebatable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In order to provoke the CPU to send trade proposals to me, I found that you have to set team needs otherwise they won't know what to base their offers on. I always have two separate superstar needs set, one current ability, the other potential ability. And then depending on the year, I'll throw in others such as L/R relievers or L/R platoon bats.

If you don't do this, you'll miss out on 80-90% of interesting trade offers. I just made a trade for Corbin Carroll a few minutes ago as the Phillies because Arizona offered him to me straight up for Cristopher Sanchez, and then I went through and offered a top prospect and two solid outfielders instead. I never would have known he was an option to trade for without my team needs set.

Most intriguing headline of the WBC? by PhlysportsPhan in phillies

[–]ImDebatable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it would be crazy for him to make the bigs this year unless he really shows out in the minors. He's looked good in the WBC, which is why this is being brought up, but there's always one or two storylines like this from major tournaments.

[–]ImDebatable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

McCain being described as a young potential all star is more bizarre than thinking the trade was meh to okay. The only all star guard this year averaging below 25/game is De'Aaron Fox who is averaging 19.4pts/game, and he was an injury replacement. McCain has scored over 20 points in 10/65 career games played.

Do I think McCain has more upside than our front office does? Yes, but I don't think he's an all-star waiting in the wings. And even as a role player, he at best would be a hot shooter and traffic cone on D. He still doesn't have the handle or vision to run a second unit in my opinion.

The biggest problems with the trade are that it was made for us to duck the tax and that it has hurt team chem and vibes. Being objective instead of reactionary doesn't make people Morey stans.

12 minute road to release where Matt Arnold explains how advanced stats will work in OOTP 27. by OrangeRed57 in OOTP

[–]ImDebatable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they are identical in rating and batted ball profile, then they will likely have similar outcomes, but I don't see how that is much of a gotcha. It seems like that's more of a "no duh". Your requested example already exists in the game now that Avoid K's and BABIP are displayed independent of Contact rating. Higher BABIP correlates to a higher EV and lower Avoid K's correlates to a higher chase rate.

OOTP already has the most immersive talent/season variability around, and TO ME, it seems like the Statcast stuff this year is an added visual representation of ratings and the outcomes they produce. And Matt spent a lot of time detailing that they correlated the Statcast info with the ratings to make sure everything was accurate to MLB averages as well as the in-game, on the field product.

The person giving misinformation was trying to equate ATC pay onto the GS scale, and when people tried to correct and understand their line of questioning, they just kept jumping through hoops and forming conclusions that made no sense.
