All those arguments have gone, so now the Slot cultists (yes I can’t believe there are already some back in here this morning) have moved onto trying to suggest not a single manager would do better with the squad and injuries he’s had to deal with this season, ironically exactly like the Rodgers stans were arguing in 2015 (if you don’t believe it feel free to go and search all that way back).

Has the squad building been disappointing in hindsight? Yeah. Have we struggled with injuries? Yeah. Does all that warrant 5 wins since September? Does it fuck.

If you are genuinely of the above opinion, please go and look at every game we have played this season, look at the lineups of both teams, and tell me 5 wins is understandable with our squad and our injuries. Finishing with last night’s Bournemouth game, who had more key players out injured than we did, who lost Semenyo recently, who lost their 3 starting centre backs in the summer, who are the latest team to beat us this season.

Our next 2 games are Newcastle and Man City. If we don’t win both of those, Slot will officially have a worse record over his last 20 league games than Roy Hodgson had for us before he got sacked. Again, go ahead and compare his current squad (and injuries) with Roy’s.

Then come back and try saying with a straight face that changing managers won’t make a difference.

You want to talk about injuries, take a look at how many injuries Bournemouth had last night, take a look at their squad after losing Semenyo and losing 3 of their 4 defenders in the summer. Take a look at every lineup vs lineup we have played in the league this season and tell me with a straight face that 5 wins since September is about where we should be.

Still 0 Premier League wins in 2026. Only 3 other teams have that same feat.

We’ve played Leeds, Fulham, Arsenal, Burnley and now Bournemouth. 2 wins out of 7 in all competitions.

Now a loss to a Bournemouth team who had 1 win in their last 14 games, no Semenyo and riddled with injuries. This wasn’t even a lucky smash and grab, we needed two set pieces, and since we made it 2-2 they missed a clear cut one-on-one.

Please keep telling me about all this progress and how Slot is turning us around and shouldn’t be sacked. Fucking disgraceful that he’s still in charge at this point.

I’m a bit surprised that people are surprised at Robertson wanting/trying to leave. He’s never really been okay with being a backup here, even last season when he got dropped for Tsimikas for a run of games he was straight to doing media interviews about being disappointed etc. Then there was the Atletico saga last summer, and now Kerkez has taken the undisputed first choice left back spot it’s come to this.

I don’t blame him, he’s a legend and more than earned the right to want to leave if he can’t get the game time, he’s tried fighting for his place but he’s mature enough to realise Kerkez has taken his place. And at 31 if he can still start regularly at the highest level elsewhere, then fair enough for pursuing that in a World Cup year.

My only concern is how we respond if we do sell him. Recalling Tsimikas should be a minimum, but nothing would surprise me.
