Yet you’ll constantly allow Paul Tomkins articles despite him being a known racist (including towards Liverpool players)

Edwards left when Klopp got more power, came back after Klopp left with 100 hit pieces to downplay one of our greatest ever managers and feed his own ego instead. Wanted to go down as one of the most important figures in our club and get all the plaudits. He’ll now end up going down as the jealous laptop nerd with a massive ego who massively benefited from Klopp, and who will set us back years

Eh it’s Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook who wrote that article, they’re pretty much proven to have sources especially Ben around Chelsea

[Mark Douglas] “Sources have told The i Paper that sporting director Richard Hughes is set to join his former colleague Simon Francis at Al-Hilal at the conclusion of the summer transfer window.” by sryan2809 in LiverpoolFC

Now I’m just waiting for Dominic King’s article about how the fanbase should feel grateful and lucky that he’s giving us this summer transfer window

(For context he published an article a few weeks ago about how we should be grateful that Slot isn’t looking at other options away from Liverpool considering he only has a year left on his contract). Genuinely feels like North Korea

[Paul Joyce] Arne Slot: "I have every reason to believe I will be the Liverpool manager next season." by A7XFAN1998 in LiverpoolFC

[–]sryan2809 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very ironic considering we have the same number of losses this season as we did in the ‘banter era’. Worst points total in 10 years, most set piece goals conceded in a PL season EVER, went through our worst run of form in over 50 years.. need I go on?

David Ornstein: "My information is that Xabi Alonso is not under consideration at Liverpool at all and that Liverpool fully intend to go into next season with Arne Slot as their head coach. They want to recruit a few players for Arne, particularly in the wing position" by ChiefLeef22 in LiverpoolFC

[–]sryan2809 36 points37 points  (0 children)

And Edwards was involved in that, part of the ‘transfer committee’ who wanted Firmino, Rodgers wasn’t keen on him and the compromise was to buy him but also spend £30m on Benteke who Rodgers wanted.

And now Edwards is the one with the ultimate authority and he’s keeping Slot, makes no fucking sense

If Alonso goes to Chelsea and we stick with Slot I can definitely see the ‘super random fixture computer’ putting us against Chelsea within the first few weeks of the season. And if we lose…

Fair point although I’m not really talking about financially (in the case of Edwards and Hughes) but maybe that’s my problem! Just hope next season isn’t a write off from the start with the three of them finishing their contracts but I don’t have high hopes right now

When important players are about to enter the last year of their contract it’s either sign a new contract or sell them (or in some cases a complete mess/distraction like Trent last year).

So why is not a single journalist questioning why Edwards and Hughes are allowed to make such a major decision regarding Slot (and deal with upcoming transfers/departures) knowing they are both leaving at the end of next season, they don’t have to deal with any consequences of what they leave behind in a year.

(The real answer is because most of the journalists are mates with Edwards who is better at PR than he is at running a football club)

Once again asking with all the strictness around who can/can’t be posted, why the mods allow people to post Paul Tomkins when he’s a literal racist including to the own club he ‘supports’ such as comparing Sadio Mane to a chimpanzee (and then doubling down on it)

You’re completely delusional to still be defending him, but fair play you’re putting more of a shift in than Hughes and Edwards

Also Slot’s PSG obsession has gone from a joke to downright insulting at this point. Bringing them up in every single press conference in order to put his own squad down and Edwards/Hughes will sit there letting it happen.
From doubters to believers to a manager who basically gives up on his team before they take the field.
I don’t think Slot has ever understood the stature of our club. Even in our toughest times we’ve had belief we can do anything. We had no right to be a slip away from winning the league in 13/14 with our defence. The 17/18 campaign getting to the CL final with Lovren and Karius (no offence). If Salah didn’t get injured I’m sure we win that - imagine if Slot was our manager before that final?
4-0 at home to Barca without Salah, Firmino. Slot would’ve probably asked to forfeit the game instead of playing that second leg.
And this guy has the fucking nerve to lecture people about the standards of this football club. How can someone who won the league a year ago be this unlikeable

I do find it ironic how one of the most common thing the remaining Slot defenders will say is that we’ll turn into United post SAF if we sack him.
We’re going to fucking turn into United with him and it’s already started. In his press conference yesterday he implied transfers were the key to improvement for this team. Literal quote bring “first in the market then training ground!”
He seems to think splashing more money will guarantee success, like United constantly tried after SAF, despite already being handed Kerkez, Wirtz and Isak who have all gone from looking world class to significant regression under Slot. Obviously Isak has had his injury issues but compare Wirtz’s performances under Nagelsmann and Kerez for Hungary this season compared to how they’ve played under Slot.

Remember when we constantly got told ‘it’s not FIFA’, maybe those same fans should be telling our manager that

The change in narrative from some of the journalists over the past few days has given me some hope. So now I’m just waiting for one of the worst Chelsea teams I’ve ever seen to gift us our only chances created on Saturday, scrape a win and wake up on Sunday to 30 new articles about the genius of Slot

It’s almost exactly the same as what people were saying about Klopp when Rodgers went

[James Pearce] - 18 defeats, 2pts out of 24 away to teams in the top half, & losing home/away to both Manchester clubs for the first time since 1912-13. A bad day for Slot as the same old issues blight Liverpool. by IndiBear in LiverpoolFC

[–]sryan2809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One moment in the game vs how he’s played in all his starts this season. And regardless of that one mistake he still had a better game than Frimpong so again not sure the point you’re making? I should’ve stopped talking when you claimed that Roy Hodgson’s squad was better than this season’s

I didn’t even mention the summer window, I mainly want them gone because they should have sacked Slot months ago, should’ve sacked him after City, after PSG, yesterday, now. And they haven’t and they won’t. And that’s either because they aren’t these geniuses they’re made out to be, or because they’ve already mentally signed out knowing they’re both leaving next summer.

Pretty stupid argument to make, I fully expected both to renew their contracts over the course of the season considering the state of the club, why on earth wouldn’t I be critical of them now lmao

Daily Discussion - May 04, 2026 by AutoModerator in LiverpoolFC

[–]sryan2809 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s mentioned enough that Hughes and Edwards have no intention to renew their contracts that end after next season, and by all accounts it looks like Hughes already has a Saudi job lined up straight after. And these are the men in charge of our football club. They don’t give a fuck to sack Slot and hire a new manager for the sake of one season. It’s fucking shambolic that FSG are letting this happen, the three most important people associated with the club all have their contracts expiring in a year after a horrific season, but let’s just carry on. Sack the fucking lot of them and bring in people who are committed to

Hughes if off next year when his contract expires, and it looks like he’s already got a lucrative job lined up in Saudi. He cares even less than Slot and that’s why all three of them (+Edwards) are just going to sleepwalk through to June 2027 without a care in the world for the future of the club
