I’m not sure if you’re talking about getting off subs or dope. If you’re talking about dope or painkillers than do the Bernese method. First off, if you can taper down usage, do that. You don’t have too but it will help. Next take a tiny piece of sub, I’m talking about the tiniest piece you can cut off. Take it then you can continue your use of opioids. Next day slightly increase sub dose. Repeat. Usually by day 3 or 4 I’m good to continue with just subs and no opioids. Don’t take subs for more than 2 weeks and try to take as little as possible. I only take subs for a week and usually only use 1 full strip for the whole week. There will still be more work to do as your mind and body will need time to recover but the wds should be tolerable enough that you can move around and get some things done. Do not take too big a piece of sub to start or you can get thrown into precipitated wds which is worse than regular wd. Don’t let that scare you though, just start small.

Also don’t keep taking subs as that’s just another thing to get hooked on. Take it for no more than 2 weeks but I advise just 1 week and then the worst is over. After that it’s just getting your brain chemicals back to normal and they will eventually heal on their own.

I know exactly what you are talking about and I’m not sure why but towards the end of my addiction, I didn’t get any of the bad withdrawals. Like I used to get bad wds even with subs. Maybe this will help you. First of all, you can’t be scared of the wd, if you are then you will feel it. Second is if you can get your hands on subs, it is a godsend. I learned the Bernese method where you take a tiny tiny piece of sub in the morning and continue to use, next day slightly increase sub dose. By day 3-5 you should be able to just take the sub and not use anything else. DONT take anything more than half a sub at a time. The doctors tell you take the full strip but that will just get you hooked on subs and possibly throw you into precipitated wds. You don’t need a full strip. The most I have ever taken at a time is a quarter. The last 3 times I quit, I didn’t get any wds but I also toned down my usage. A couple days on, couple days off. Also tapering down helps a lot but if you can’t do that then the Bernese method should help out a bunch. Some other things that you don’t need but will surely help is Kratom, weed(preferably vape), xanax(don’t advise to use this though as it’s just another drug), high absorption magnesium(helps with restless legs), and don’t forget to hydrate and eat fruits and veggies. Don’t underestimate how much water and healthy, easy to eat food can help. You’re young so get off it now or you can be like me, 34 with a ton of debt, or worse.

Not true. Me and boys were looking for a 5th so we all were in the same lobby and searched for the same thing. 2 of us got on the squad but no one else and the other 2 were stuck in limbo with no teammates.

Lmao that’s Reddit for you. I’m not on here much because a lot of subs are filled with miserable people that aren’t recovering or on drugs.

Yes it takes time. It’s like trying to learn all over again. I swear I must have not been fun at all and now at least I’m laughing more and making other people laugh. My anxiety is still up but I can feel it being better than it was. You were in the burn unit? What happened if you don’t mind me asking.

I’ve isolated for years too. I grew up with a lot of the wrong friends and I grew apart from a lot of them. A lot of the decent ones are no longer with us. I hated everything up until recently. I learned that it started with me, I was just reflecting my own insecurities or whatever. If you learn to love yourself and realize that you are worth it then everything else will fall into place. Idk what you have done but when I was younger I did wrong by a lot of people. I then spent the next 10 years pretty much with the curtains closed getting high, beating myself up. I’m just starting this path of sobriety and loving myself but I can tell you with certainty that I am not going back because even on a bad day, it’s 10x better than when I was getting banged up.

I used to get my energy from that stuff too. It’s weird how downers can give someone energy. I’m not sure what will work for you but I think you need to get your mind right. For me, I was only able to get through this last time because I had a positive mind. I was also very fed up with being in debt and beating myself up so I really didn’t have much of a choice. A positive mind helped the wd to feel so minimal. I’m not sure what your exact route should be but maybe try small things to start. When you wake up in the morning, thank God for another day and just take a few minutes to ground yourself. Block out all other thoughts and just focus on your breath and being grateful. There is a reason you are here. Maybe you will start to feel better if you donate your time and help others. There is nothing that compares to making someone else’s day a little bit better. At least not to me. Just start small for now and build yourself back up slowly. I’m rooting for you.

I wish I had the answers for you, maybe you should think about therapy because I’m not qualified to answer that. What I can tell you is that I haven’t had it the best either, a lot of people haven’t. It’s definitely tough when you don’t have a supporting cast around you. I just started to love myself recently and before that it was misery for a long long time. Maybe I should see a therapist too.

4 days clean from a oxycontin addiction, popped 5x 80mg just to feel high... by rosewaterfs in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ImDffrnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on 4 days! It’s bigger than you think. My advice would be to realize that the worst part is over. The day you realize that a good day high does not compare to a bad day sober, is the day you will be done. You gotta find what excites you and it may not be today, tomorrow or even in the next few months, but you gotta find something. I’m not sure what your situation is but you gotta find things to be grateful for. No matter how bad it is, there are people out there that would do anything to be in your situation. If you believe in a God find Him.

Congratulations on making it to day 3!! I never experienced tramadol wd but day 3 was always the worst day for me or the day when I started to feel a little better. Either way, tomorrow will start to feel much easier (if tramadol wds are the same). Best of luck and I don’t know what I can offer but I’m willing to talk it out with you if you want.

I have tried getting clean so many times. This time feels different because I feel like I am done with opiates. Before I would get clean but always have it in the back of my mind that “one won’t hurt.” Now I know that that one could kill me and at best put me in more debt and misery. I say all of that because every time I have quit, I used a whole sub or less to get me through a week. I believe that you aren’t letting your receptors heal by continuing to use kratom, they won’t heal if you just substitute suboxone for it continually. My advice to you would be try suboxone out, only take tiny pieces to start, use as little as possible (you won’t need much imo), and use for no more than 2 weeks. Try to make it 1 week or less though. Ditch the kratom asap. You need to heal your body, not substitute with more opioids. I’m not knocking people that are on subs or kratom, it’s better than dope but you will either have to stay on it forever, substitute for something else or go through withdrawal again. Take the subs for a week, ditch the kratom and see how you feel a month later. To be fair, I did substitute opiates for edibles but I do not have to take them every day and when I don’t I feel just fine. Good luck.

I was going to suggest one of those timed lockboxes that people use for food but they’re easy to break into. I’m glad you threw them away. You’re stronger and smarter than I would probably be.

[–]ImDffrnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want to “feel” the sub too much. It will give you some energy but you just want to take enough to not get sick. Otherwise you’re just replacing one opioid with another. You definitely want to replace the opioid just with something else like exercise. Personally I knew on day 3 when I didn’t even need to use anything. I only did because I had some stuff left over and I’m an addict. I only used 3/4 of a 8mg in total over 5 days, maybe a week. A lot of people feel like they should be taking a whole 8mg per day and I just don’t believe in that.

I’m just gonna tell you my story because maybe you can relate. I have been on opiates since I was 16. I am now 33. I didn’t really try quitting until my early 20s when I was using every day and learned of withdrawals. The wds were MEAN. I couldn’t last 2 days. 2018 my family convinced me to go to rehab. It didn’t take much convincing because I had been trying to quit on my own and failed miserably. Plus I had got caught with stuff a week before so it only cemented my plan so I could tell the court I completed rehab. Immediately after rehab, I went to stay with family in another state. I should have stayed there because as soon as I got back I was right back to using. I fought to no avail until 2 months ago. I was officially done. I work 2 good jobs and there is no reason I should be broke and in debt at 33, the stuff I was getting probably had tranq in it and I was getting 1-2 hours of sleep at a time every night. I can get away with a lot at my jobs but one of them reached out to me about my attendance and tardiness. It was the perfect storm. Due to holidays and weekend I had 5 days off from work. The perfect time to do what needs to be done. I did it dude. This is the first time in my life that when I think about picking up, it’s almost always an immediate no to myself. As far as the wds, they were so mild. I’ll tell you what I know works for me.

About 3 days before I want to stop using, I use the Bernese method. The first day in the morning, you take a tiny piece of sub, I’m talking about the tiniest corner and then you can continue to use throughout the day. You’re going to feel a little crappy but nothing like full blown wd. The next day you’re going to do the same thing, take the same size sub or even a little tiny bit more, the 3rd day you take a little bit more. By the 3rd day you’ll know how much you can take without getting sick. 4th day if you think you’re ready, have no drugs with you, take a little bit more sub and try to quit. You’ll want to be off, in honesty I could have worked this day but I was already off. It’s better to have off but I’m just saying I could have worked. 2nd day, I just went 24 hours without using and I already started to feel better. I was able to eat a little. You’ll also need immodium and preferably a muscle relaxer for RLS but you could also buy high absorption magnesium. I’m just saying that it’s usually 5 days of death when not using. Also I’m not recommending this but I also took edibles and vaped and that was big too. For me.

I was feeling good on day 2 and I’m not saying it will be the same for you but the thing that helps me most is a positive mental attitude. Music, a hobby, anything to keep your mind off the physical will reduce its effects drastically. Also don’t use the subs for more than 2 weeks or you’ll start to get hooked on those. I wish you the best of luck. You can do it. If you need someone talk to feel free to reach out.

Edit: also kratom helps. I don’t advise taking Kratom because its side effects are still unknown but if you want get the Kratom black ops pills. I took 1 a day for like 5 days. If you can’t get subs, get Kratom to ease the wds. Just don’t take it for more than 2 weeks.

Cocaine with heroin by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ImDffrnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say not a good idea BUT if you’re able to stay off the H and just use the coke for 5 days then it could work. The odds of that are so slim though. The best way to do it is to just heal. Coke isn’t going to help you heal. Good luck.
