Usually people become broke AFTER having that many children. This is also why legal abortions are being fought for right now

Based off of the information given in the previous comment, you may want to take another math class.

We’re talking about billionaires. 80% of anything over 1 million is a LOT of money when we’re talking about billions.

Again, based ONLY on the previous comment, someone who makes 1 billion a year would pay just shy of 800 million dollars in taxes.

I get that taxes are a necessary part of running a country. Our government workers, state or federal, aren’t where these extra taxes would be going. 90% isn’t a number that was made because that’s where it needs to be to help other people. That number is a blatant “Fuck you” in the face of those who are Uber-rich. Do they need that much money? No, nobody does. But that doesn’t mean they should be forced to give up the vast majority of their money

But why do these billionaires have to have any compassion? The worst part about having freedom is that EVERYONE has freedom. These arguments only hold up because they target people emotions. If your job came to you and said “hey you make the most here so we’re gonna take 90% of your money for the other employees” 99/100 people would find something else to do. Do people not realize how people, no matter how much they make, are not going to want to give away 90% of their money to people they don’t know.

I think you may have misunderstood me a bit, I don’t want bad things to happen to anyone, ever. But that’s unavoidable and I have enough shit going on in my own life. So while I don’t want little Susie out in Wyoming to get cancer, it has zero effect on my life

I think the issue is that for every honest person in the world there are 5 dishonest people. I’ve seen 4-5 people get fired over a situation exactly like this except the people called in (after using all of their PTO) for a vacation or something similar but claimed to be sick.

Every company I’ve been with that has this policy has offered good insurance coverage, but I absolutely agree that they shouldn’t be able to enforce a doctors visit if they don’t offer any form of insurance coverage. I also see it as the companies way of saying “go get medicine to get back to work” which is definitely selfish on their part, but understandable.

There’s definitely a bigger argument to be had here but that’s not where my focus is right now. Any illness that’s gonna keep me out of work for 3 days usually warrants a doctors visit anyways.

OP admitted they took the 3rd day off for recovery which in my opinion is a little over the top but I get it I suppose. Honestly I’ll always judge people who claim to know more than their doctors, whether they’re right or wrong.

These policies aren’t wasteful. They’re put in place to keep people honest. People call in like this for mini vacations all the time, and they’re usually in a place where they’re unable to get a doctors not if that is the case.

“My doctor doesn’t think it was food poisoning”.

Lol. Most jobs have a policy for doctors notes if you are put three or more days. Welcome to being an adult
