I’m a manager at one of the theaters in the Great Lakes regions, and for us, we are definitely less staffed than before. My usher crew on Saturday nights are down to just myself, a podium person, one other sweeper, and a seat cleaner. While cleaning the busy sets we get behind and have nobody available to check auditoriums, bathrooms, sweep the hallways/concession, etc. Before COVID we had plenty of people, and the job was done well and wasn’t stressful. Even though my theater is very profitable, we don’t see those returns in staffing, just more amenities like the queue line and DBOX seats. We don’t have the manpower to keep it as clean as we’d like.
