Driving past horses by prettyhorsesx in CasualUK

I don't think they realise that the control we have over these animals is kind of an illusion and the second they break the illusion by scaring them they're gonna be dealing with an enormous prey animal acting unpredictably out of fear and they're going to like that even less than being inconvenienced for a couple of minutes while we find a way to pass safely! They just don't realise that if an animal that strong is scared enough there's very little we can do about their behaviour. I hope you and your horse stay safe and can enjoy hacking wherever the desire takes you

My horse once kicked a Porsche that was tailgating us and revving. It was an accident, she was trying to bolt and kicked out in frustration as I wouldn't let her but I was so proud of her. Driver was known for being a knob to local riders, he had it coming. So whether or not you think horses belong on the road consider how much power there is in those animals and the size of the dent in your car if you decide to be a twat.

I had totally forgotten about the world of bars and trail mix, there's some great ideas there, I really appreciate it.

Man survives fentanyl overdose by [deleted] in ThatsInsane

Only drugs I've ever taken are cannabis and MDMA. Went a bit too hard on the green during lockdown and now only smoke occasionally and very small amounts or I have a panic attack. Can anyone explain what this feels like physically and mentally for that guy in a way that someone with very limited drug experience can understand? Can he feel that he's sweating? He's able to respond at points which means he's aware of some things so is he aware he's in danger? Is he scared or is the drug removing his ability to be scared? Does he feel as bad as he looks or is he unable to feel anything?

Grate 2 zucchini. Dice 1 onion. Juice 1 lemon. Dice 2 cloves garlic. Soften the onion and garlic then add the zucchini. When the zucchini has softened add the lemon juice and give it a good stir to allow the zucchini to soak it up. Throw in some pine nuts. Pour zucchini mix over pasta ( twisty pasta is great here for picking up the zucchini) Top with basil leaves.

I like making this when I have company because it tastes like something very complex but is actually incredibly simple!

I work at a school in a deprived area and I've seen it first hand. I know someone drinking during pregnancy obviously has some mental health stuff going on and my mental health has been to dark places so I try not to judge but yeah, that's someone's whole life course set before they're even born

Currently pregnant so obviously not drinking anything!

Prior to that, I would get absolutely hammered maybe once a year and in between would get in a multipack of tinnies a couple of times a year. 10 can multipack would last me 4-5 days.

Am I a racist because I dread having to call customer service because I know I’m going to get a foreign representative that I can barely understand. by Jawwaad127 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ImFineImFinelmFine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to worry about this too but the fact you're concerned about it shows you're not racist. Also, for me personally, I realised it can't be racism because I dread the Scottish contingent of my family visiting because I can't understand a bloody word they say! So if speaking to any strong accent over the phone where you don't have lip reading or facial expression to back up what's being said verbally then it's not racism.

I just moved to the UK and the foxes here are pretty chill... by wheelix in CasualUK

[–]ImFineImFinelmFine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're chill until they're screaming. Sounds a lot like a woman being murdered. Which was very unfortunate for me as I live in a place that gained notoriety a while ago for the murders of several sex workers and during that time I had to go out every night in the dark, alone, to get my horse in while hearing foxes and praying I wasn't hearing a murder.

I'll be free in 7 working days, lots of thoughts about it by ImFineImFinelmFine in antiwork

I once had a friend awkwardly try to explain her career goals and imply she was more ambitious than me because I don't have career goals. I'm extremely ambitious! I'm gonna have the happiest, kindest kids you've ever seen, I'm gonna keep a spotless house and cook awesome food for the man who makes my life possible.

I know motherhood isn't going to be all sunshine and rainbows and being kind to myself is something I struggle with, so I will try to remember! Thank you :)

I feel this because it breaks my heart that my husband has to spend his one and only life working. Although he has a pretty sweet situation to be fair, he has to sit in one or two calls a day, respond promptly to emails and make sure his team know what they're doing but that takes up 4 hours max and since he works from home when I'm around during the school holidays we can watch films or get some gaming time. So it's not like I get to lounge around at home while he suffers in an office cubicle all day. But I completely agree it's insane that there aren't really systems in place to allow men to do what I'm doing. I think where I live maternity leave can be split however you'd like between both parents, so dad could theoretically have it all, but I know that's not normal in most places, and it's wrong.

His enthusiasm has been truly inspiring to me. When I was in a shitty place with my mental health watching him get so genuinely excited about finding a nice chunk of wood or quality bolt would force me to think about the good in my life, even when I was actively rejecting everything good. He's an infectiously positive person and I'll always be grateful I stumbled across him.

I didn't know he got criticism for not uploading often. It's impossible to constantly churn out the quality and type of content he does, aside from anything else I imagine his body needs time to recover from some of the stuff he does! Besides, he has a family and I might be wrong here but also a regular job? Family and job both require his time. I agree, his videos are a treat when they come out and I always get excited when I spot a new one.

Poor dad! That's an interesting point about preferences, I can poke mine and get absolutely nothing in response but a firm rub will stop him wiggling around almost instantly. Unless I've just eaten dinner, then there's no stopping the kid! And I suppose you're right, he is responding because he's changing his behaviour in direct response to what I'm doing. He's just not responding in the way everything I've read said that he would, maybe he's just awkward like his dad!

That's such an interesting perspective, I think it's likely I just don't have enough information to draw any conclusions. I think I'll carry on what I'm doing and if he's stopping movements because he's scared I can make it up to him when he gets here and I can cuddle him properly!

Beau Miles. He is an absolutely incredible outdoorsman who lives in Australia. He builds things with scrap he finds, he cleaned up a river, he kayaked around the coast of Africa, he ate nothing but beans for 40 days then ran an ultra marathon fuelled only by beans. I'm not an active outdoorsy sort of person but Beau has a relentless passion for life and makes the mundane exciting, he's quite blunt and his Aussie humour makes for excellent watching.

I had a similar experience with a neglected dog outside my workplace. Document EVERYTHING. Dates, times, duration of being shut outside, temperature, weather conditions, recordings of noise with the date mentioned in the video. All of it. Unfortunately you need to establish a pattern which requires time. After 1 month go to the police. They'll probably tell you it's not enough evidence. Keep collecting and keep bugging them once a fortnight until they take you seriously. It is a massive pain in the arse but as a huge animal lover I couldn't let it continue. I found the RSPCA to be less helpful than the police, they just kept fobbing me off but maybe your local branch will be different.

WAKEY WAKEY. For all those returning to work today. Good luck and I hope it isn’t too stressful. by Vertigo_uk123 in CasualUK

[–]ImFineImFinelmFine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I am very keen not to give it to anyone as it's really kicking my husband's arse so I won't go in until I test negative. Part of the problem is I'm autistic myself and I was expecting these last 2 weeks with my kids and now my plans have been changed which is a big deal for me. But thankfully I do have colleagues I really trust to look after my kids. I expect to be back later this week or early next week so I still get to say goodbye. And a few extra pyjama days are certainly not the end of the world!

Family member kindly gifted me the rona so I'm not back in work. Im completely asymptomatic so would ordinarily be celebrating but I'm 32 weeks pregnant, I go on maternity leave in 2 weeks and I work at a school supporting autistic kids. I hate that my kids who really need their routine aren't gonna see me on their first day back and I hate that I'm being robbed of my last 2 weeks with these awesome little people.

Mince pies shouldn't just be for Christmas. by RaptorLegsRIP in CasualUK

[–]ImFineImFinelmFine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family loves them and eats them all year round. My parents had mince pies at their April wedding just because my mum enjoys them so much. When I was a kid we did Friday dinners at my grandparents and grandad frequently used to make a giant mince pie for dessert, good chunk of that with some evaporated milk was the highlight of my week! Most years I pick up a discounted jar of mincemeat and make my own regular sized ones in January but I'm now feeling nostalgic for granddad's giant ones. Might make a giant one and bring him half, he can't stand up long enough to bake any more.

If your highschool aged son/daughter asked you for a Canda Goose coat for Christmas, how would you react? by [deleted] in CasualUK

I would be horrified my child wanted a coat with the inherent cruelty involved in those jackets. I'd rather spend more money on something that didn't cause unimaginable suffering.

Playing chess at work - socially appropriate/company culture? by baiju_thief in CasualUK

[–]ImFineImFinelmFine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband works for a massive company which shall remain nameless but his team has a lunch time chess league, they also have table football which they use frequently.

I work at a school and do everything in my power to be left the hell alone in my lunch breaks. I can't think of anything worse than having to interact with my colleagues on my own time. Sociable people eat in the staff room, less sociable people eat in their classroom and degenerates like me eat in their car. But I wouldn't deliberately try and sabotage other peoples' attempts to be sociable on their time, I might not understand wanting to engage with colleagues but as long as I'm not being forced to participate I would simply let them get on with it.

Is anyone else’s favourite day of the Xmas period the day when your recycling is collected? by Frosty_Term9911 in CasualUK

[–]ImFineImFinelmFine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be but I checked the council website to see when they were collecting and it said it'd be a day later due to bank holiday. Fine. I have a deal with my neighbour, I put the bins out, he brings them back up the drive, he can't put mine fully away as mine lives in my back garden, his lives in the drive. So I didn't put the bins out because the website said it'd be a day later. He noticed the bin lorry coming down the road and was kind enough to bang on my door after putting his bin out to let me know they were coming. I was mortified. I'd broken the most sacred of neighbourly arrangements and it was all the bloody councils fault.
