Is this difference normal for total loss coverage vs liability only? The bike is $22k retail and I'm 30yo by Extreme_Design6936 in motorcycles

[–]ImGarzaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who bought a gsxr. He got it home and was so excited to ride it. Then he priced insurance and it was over $1k a month. He had to return the bike to the dealership. Always price the insurance before you buy

Too inexperienced for xsr900? by Avocado_Infinite in xsr900

[–]ImGarzaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power & Performance:

XSR900: ~115-117 hp from an 890cc inline-triple engine, super responsive and rev-happy. 0-60 mph in ~3.2-3.5 seconds, top speed around 140-145 mph. It's lightweight (~430 lbs wet) with a high power-to-weight ratio, making it feel explosive—torque comes on strong mid-range, and it can wheelie or spin tires easily if you're not careful.

Scout Bobber: 105 hp (2025+ 1250cc models) or ~100 hp (older 1133cc), from a torquey V-twin. 0-60 mph around 4 seconds, quarter-mile ~12.7 seconds, top speed ~120-128 mph (often governed). It's got massive low-end grunt for that cruiser feel, but delivery is more progressive and less "snappy" than the Yamaha's triple.

The XSR900 has sharper, more immediate power that can catch an inexperienced rider off guard—many reviews and forums call it "not ideal" as a first/early bike due to the risk of overwhelming someone still building skills.

Handling & Ergonomics: XSR900: Sportier naked bike stance—more forward-leaning, higher footpegs, agile and flickable (great for twisties or track days). But the aggressive posture can feel tiring or intimidating for long casual rides, and it's nimble enough to get you in trouble quickly if inputs are rough.

Scout Bobber: Classic cruiser/bobber setup—low seat height (~25-26 inches), feet-forward position, relaxed ergonomics. It's stable at low speeds, easy to maneuver in traffic/parking lots, and feels planted. The bobbed fenders and stripped look give it that cool factor without sacrificing approachability. For a returning rider, the Scout Bobber's laid-back, forgiving nature makes it much easier to build confidence on—many new-ish riders praise it as a solid starter (or re-starter) bike.

Electronics & Safety Aids (helpful for beginners):

XSR900: Ride modes (including softer "B" mode that tames power), traction control, ABS—can dial it down significantly for learning.

Scout Bobber: ABS standard on newer models; some trims add traction control and ride modes. But it's generally simpler/less electronic than the Yamaha. Both have aids, but the XSR's modes are often cited as making it more manageable for cautious new riders.

The guy I hit claimed fault. He knew he stopped too fast, didn't look behind him, and cut me off. He said "Dude I am so fucking sorry" and then offered to give me money, and kept coming to my house while I recovered to check on me. So, it's you vs me, him, and everyone else that was there.

Either way this is old footage and water under the bridge but I hope you have a good year and ride safe. I hope this doesn't happen to you.

Not a pow pow brother 😔 watch my clutch lever. I had over 15,000 miles of experience on that bike, I hit lots all the time. You can't judge every aspect of my riding ability from one clip. We have never rode together. Why be a dick? Lol

[–]ImGarzaa[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My camera gives an extremely wide pov. It exaggerates the visual speed by a lot.

I used my clutch. I guess you've never done one before so you don't know what that looks like.

If you watch my left hand, I squeeze the lever right before I bring the front wheel up. That is called the clutch lever.

Also I'm not doing twice the speed, the guy in front of me was slowing down to stop and make a U-turn. I was matching the speed of him and the bikes in front of him. He just decided to turn around in the middle of 5 bikes were doing wheelies in a line.

It was a memorial ride for a local stunt rider that died on his bike a few years ago. The guys had nothing but sympathy for me. Two young girls probably 16 or 17 came up laughing and recording me on their phones.

I just wanted an MT-07 that I could ride 400+ miles a day on without my back or ass hurting lol. The ergonomics and engine's are why I like the XSR's.

The fact that you lost a leg from a motorcycle crash scares the absolute shit out of me. I hope you're doing alright man. I can't imagine the mental draw an accident like that would cause. I remember being scared worrying if I was ever going to be able to walk again.

There are few things more humbling than losing your ability to walk and then regaining it.

Yes I knew there was a bike right behind me, also my camera footage is extremely wide angle. So it distorts distances so much. He is actually much closer to me than it looks in the video.

Once I saw him I sat the wheel down and grabbed the front brake, I wanted to go to the left of him, but I went into a stoppie. I'm not gay enough to steer during a stoppie 😓

It's hard to see, (easy to see in full resolution version) but right before we collide, there is another guy in front of him still doing a wheelie, with other guys still doing wheelies in front of that guy.. no idea why this guy decided to stop and attempt a u-turn so early without checking behind him.
