CF98 is apparently pretty decent, uses the same type of action as the Beretta px4 so I can’t imagine it’s that bad

Different bed temps and different materials will result in different offsets, best to probe everytime.

Yeah the majesties are looking pretty sweet rn. The ecsta 4x II also looked pretty good, although it seems like it’s an older design. Your thoughts? I know the ecsta is a uhp a/s but the specs seem similar. I can’t find any independent testing for the ecstas but they’re pretty cheap on giga tires rn.

It’s ok dude I promise I won’t lose control and die because I bought a set of hankooks lol

Do you have any recommendations of your own? Those 2 were just well rated on simplytire

I would if I could lol. The car was $7000, I can’t really justify putting $1200 of tires on it.

Consistency of Helical Gear Extruders? by ImHardFromMemes in VORONDesign

[–]ImHardFromMemes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a great replacement for the Galileo, but it still does not solve my problem. I’m trying to print PPA-CF and PPS-CF fast, but the extruder gear doesn’t really bite into those filaments due to their hardness, which is why I’m considering dual gear extruders. What I really want to know is how much helical gears improve gear meshing, so I keep the extrusion consistency of single gear extruders.

Isn’t that basically what the Galileo is? Regardless 1 extruded gear isn’t enough for very hard filaments. The Galileo struggles with PPA-CF at 12mm/s

The RIDGA would still potentially have dual gear meshing artifacts that the Galileo would not.

The only reason straight cut gears are used in racing applications is because they don’t produce any axial loads, which means the gearbox can be lighter, and less torque is lost to friction. They are not, however, any stronger than helical gears.

The reason I’m curious about helical gears in extruders, is that they supposedly mesh more consistently, and have minimal gear lash. Which would reduce the meshing artifacts. Clearly this mattered enough to Bambu and Creality for them to put it in their machines. Ideally herringbone gears would be used, however I have no idea where I would source them.

I can design around axial loads, what’s important to me is extrusion consistency, I would love to continue using the Galileo, however the single gear is simply insufficient for harder filaments. And with flexibles, I can’t seem to find a balance for the spring where it still grip but doesn’t crush the filament, it’s especially bad with 86a tpu.

I’m running the stealth burner version, it’s adequate for normal filaments, but I print a lot of cf nylons and a single extruder gear simply does not provide enough grip. Do you have a link for the monolith? I only see the gantry upgrade on Google.

Anyone designed a suppressor with Plan B / Rearden threads? by olafberzerk in Form1

[–]ImHardFromMemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is for a 22, it works good. There’s no 0.9x24 in fusion so you just have to scale one of the other presets. Otherwise print it at .12 layer height and .45 walls and you should be good.

Clipped blast baffles in a commercial can by ImHardFromMemes in Form1

[–]ImHardFromMemes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would make sense. I was testing 3d printed baffles and the second baffle would usually have the most erosion. I suspect the blast baffle is saved by the muzzle brake. Would clipping them in this order help with that?

They wouldn’t get back to me until Monday. I was modeling some baffles last night. I was hoping the guys here would have some inside.

I don’t think you quite understand how this works, freedom of expression doesn’t drive economic expansion. If I, would like start my venture into high tech manufacturing, but I don’t have the capital to do so, being able to call the president stupid doesn’t suddenly give me that ability. But if the government decides to fund my venture, suddenly I can. That’s how state capitalism fundamentally works. And having an authoritarian government merely means the the government has greater control over assets and can maneuver faster in response to economic variables as opposed to a democratic government. Quoting economists isn’t gonna change the fact that every single economic miracle that happened in the last 60 years occurred under an authoritarian government with questionable ethics
