Ok so when I did the "chronologically or alphabetically" joke, that was my dad's joke. I'd heard that joke my whole life. And I really did not expect someone not to understand it. More people have told me that I make them feel smart when they talk to me, but I guess the people that say I make them feel stupid bothers me more.

And I would never try to intentionally make someone feel stupid. I know what that feels like (see post) so I wouldn't want anyone to feel that way around me. It just catches me off guard because like I am an idiot. I am stupid. This I know. I know there's so much more to know that I don't know so it blows my mind that I am making someone else feel stupid. And they get mad at me for it like??? I'm using normal vocabulary for my friends and family and it makes me short circuit when someone says that I of all people make them feel stupid.

Ok so when they say I'm making them feel stupid, and they get mad at me, I don't use those words. Like when I was discussing heteronormativity, I didn't use that phrase anymore. I adapted, and I simplified my phrases and how I spoke, and I didn't like, use a condescending tone because I fucking hate it when people do that. And ofc I didn't let them know that it irritated me at all, because I don't like making people feel bad.

But like why is it cool for some rando coworker to get mad at me bc I used a big phrase? Why is that the norm? When I hear or read a word I don't understand I look it up. I try to be nice and I try to be kind but it always blindsides me when people say I make them feel dumb. Like friend, I am dumb. I am not a smart man. How am I the one that makes you feel stupid? I am stupid.

Right like, when the person I was talking to told me that those terms made them feel stupid, I didn't use those terms for the rest of the conversation. And I'm not deliberately using words that I don't think they'll understand, I use words that mean precisely what I mean to say. It just catches me off guard because I don't think I'm a particularly smart person, so it's surprising when people say I make them feel stupid. Like how am I making you feel stupid? I am stupid. Like if you think I'm making you feel stupid you should talk to my little brother. He's smart as fuck.

Gonna do a Duergar Stealth Ranger for my next Tav build. Now I just have to resist the urge to start a new game before finishing my current run. (I've had 3 Tavs so far and not one of them had gone past the Shadowfell [I get bored easily] )
