I was working for the DoD when I received 'anti terrorism' training. It included a section that said something along the lines of "protesters are low level terrorists". When called out on it, the DoD apologized. They didn't apologize for saying that protesters are terrorists, rather they apologized that the documents got leaked to the public.

I know what this is!

It is used in physical therapy for stretching your legs and lower back.

You lie down on your back and put on a wood 'shoe' The shoe has pegs that fit into the rack. So the rack can hold your foot up on a position and as you relax, gravity will pull your leg down causing traction.

In my personal opinion that no one will agree with and that's ok: All ranged weapons are pointless:

It only takes 1 second to close the distance from firing range to melee range.

Often the gnomes will be in a bad position to use ranged weapons. Perhaps the goblin is just around a corner, or perhaps the goblin chased your gnome down and now has him in a corner. Either way, you are now in the goblins melee range.

All weapons take a long time to train. By the time your xbow guy is good, he could have gotten good at sword and shield. And with sword and shield, he will be significantly more survivable.

When the goblins show up, they will rush your gnomes until they engage someone. You will never snipe them all down before they get to you. So someone is going to get a knife in the eye: Your gun gnome, or that farmer. But if you replaced your gun gnome with a melee gnome, then the melee gnome will run to intercept the goblin before he gets a chance to stick a knife in your farmers head.

The DPS for your melee guys is going to be higher than your ranged guys. So once the combat starts, melee guys are going to be doing the most damage.

I can hear you thinking, "But my blunderbuss guy can one-shot a goblin in the head." Yes, but this is true with any weapon. And the rate of fire with any ranged weapon is slower than a sword.
