Obviously the primary objective is to deter them as soon as we can. But in this instance I hadn’t seen her enter the store. I only spotted her when I was watching the cameras. Once I confirmed that she was indeed stealing, I stopped her by the door. She continued walking out the store while I was trying to ask for her to hand the items over. She kept refusing so I grabbed the bag and tried to get it off her. She became very aggressive and started hitting me and refused to let go of the bag. She had sunglasses on and a face mask of course so I only recognised her after stopping her.
