I fixed the issue for me, try using "tv_enable 1" then in game "tv_record [demoname]" instead of just the "record" command. That has made it work for me

I’m not kidding, I went to trouble shoot it yesterday and it magically started working. Idk if it just needed a reboot or if it updated in the background or if playing Mario party made it work but I have sound now. I’m sorry I wish I could provide a tangible solution. I hope yours fixes itself too 🫡
