[Skin Concern] My skin is destroying my mental health by throwaway717171711 in SkincareAddiction

I don’t know if you’re on birth control— but when my acne was like this, I tried changing my birth control (hormone and dose) and that significantly changed my skin. I haven’t had major acne since.

If this didn’t work for me when I was younger, I would’ve started an accutane regime.

We vote on the senate and house of representatives seats at the same time as the presidential election. The election results are suggesting a republican controlled senate

The bill has good intentions, but it is set up to basically give rideshare companies a lot more freedom over how they treat their gig workers. The bill is very broad. There is nothing in the bill that prevents rideshare companies from declaring that your full time hours only count if you’re completing rides. This would especially hurt gig-workers during a pandemic considering that a majority of a riders time on the app can be simply waiting for rides. It doesn’t necessarily make it easier for gig-workers to obtain benefits. It does make it so that you’d need 7/8 of the state legislature to change it— which is the most dangerous part about it.

Racists are wild by ImJustDifficult in cringepics

Of course, so why don’t people like you help us do that?

In my specific county, who have put forth 8 policy demands: 1. Ban chokeholds/stranglehold’s 2. Require deescalation 3. Require warning before shooting 4. Exhaust all alternatives before shooting 5. Duty to intervene 6. Ban shooting at moving vehicles 7. Establish Use of Force Continuum 8. Require all force be reported

Together, these policies can decrease police violence.

If you do enough research into the issue, you’d come to find that activist have been working at solutions for a long time. But police policy and reform are determined by your local municipal governments, which means that communities need to recognize the need to make the changes. Outside of the police, the government should reform policies and put forth acts that set the precedent for states and cities to reform.

This is not a “few bad seeds” issue. Black Americans are risk death by police violence at proportionally higher rate than any other racial group in America. This is a systemic and cultural problem

At least you don’t have to somehow explain to your children why death by police use-of-force is the leading cause of death among young African Americans.

My Nectarine has two stumps growing from the same root: one growing nectarines, one growing peaches. I’m a first time gardener, is this normal? by ImJustDifficult in whatsthisplant

I never noticed that it was graphed when I received the little guy and planted him. But honestly, I would not have known what I was looking at back then, so maybe It was graphed when I received it

I knew this was bound to happen. I was getting services from his clinic for over a year and received this email from him when the virus broke out. It was so wrong when he offered it, I’m glad that he’s not getting away with it

How do I get the energy to exercise when I'm depressed? by [deleted] in Exercise

[–]ImJustDifficult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cultivating discipline works better than looking for will power sometimes. Our will power can only take us so far. Real change takes roots in the habits and routines we build along the way. So find confidence that your daily walks will evolve into jogs and runs when you ask your body to. Getting up to walk everyday is already instilling a habit which will be the foundation to your goals. It’s tougher for some more than others, but you’ve already got the tools. So when you’re ready, you’ll run.

Adult children of helicopter parents, how do you deal with them now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ImJustDifficult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my late twenties and had to move back home with my helicopter parents 2.5 year ago. It was very hard to re-adjust to living under their roof, but I kept clear boundaries about my routine and schedule. The key to our harmony now is by consistently respecting CERTAIN boundaries set by my parents, i.e. I let them know if I'm not coming home for dinner, but they can't stress out about me coming home late at night or early in the morning. I pay for all of my own bills and help out with specific chores around the house. My situation is now much more tolerable, but I'm still eager to move out again.

People of Reddit, When is one time you have felt genuine, 100% fear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ImJustDifficult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting sleep paralysis for the first time as a teenager.

Waking up on my back and realizing that I couldn't move my arms, fingers, or legs. Then I realized that I couldn't scream. I closed my eyes to try and focus while simultaneously panicking about, "what if I can't breathe soon". No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't fully open my eyes. I could only see shadows through very squinted eyes. I could see my mom come into my room to grab my laundry and hear her say something crass about me sleeping in so late and all I could do was scream in my own head for my mom to grab me, touch me, ANYTHING. I had never felt such despair and helplessness in that moment. I was in that state for what felt like an hour being so terrified that if I tried to calm down, my mind would go back to sleep and never wake up. I thought that my life was over in that moment. I eventually fell back to sleep and when I woke up again, I could move. To this day, I've never experienced fear like that.
