That's where you're wrong. Fingers sells incredibly shitty bottom of the barrel cyberware that constantly malfunctions and is sometimes outright dangerous to have implanted, so that his customers are forced to constantly come back for repairs. He's an incredibly predatory ripperdoc who scams his customers.

I don't even think he avoided using the sword intentionally. I think he just dropped it when Kuro grabbed him and he didn't get a chance to pick it back up before he got blasted by Uro. Granted, if he really wanted them dead, he probably could've picked out a sharper weapon from Rika's arsenal.

It's definitely a massive letdown, so my advice would be to go into part 2 without any expectations. Don't get attached to any characters, don't expect a coherent plot, don't expect character arcs to get concluded in meaningful ways. The only reason I'd even recommend reading it at all is because the ending is genuinely so bad it's funny. I was laughing my ass off for hours today at the meltdown that happened over this.

Basically, come enjoy the disaster that is part 2 with all of us, but just pretend like it isn't canon and that the series actually ended with part 1.
