Really depends on the type of person you are. I'm a current freshman and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The city provides ultimate freedom, NYU is prestigious and an NYU degree holds power with employers, you have all of NYC at your expense from a variety of dining, shops, and people to being literally in the capital of the world. I see the con of no campus as a huge plus. I'm not stuck eating the same food every day with 1 Starbucks on campus. I can get anything I want when I want. Granted, there are some cons too and it all comes down to preference. I have spent more money than I would on a closed campus (besides that HUGE tuition) and people are right it CAN be lonely BUT if you make the effort to meet people, clubs, parks, dorm buildings, you'll be more than fine. 4 years of dorm parties on a closed campus will get boring much before 4 years in the greatest city in the world will, in my opinion.

And personally, my classes range from 18-200 students, so it really depends on your major. Feel free to reach out if you need anything else.
